Germany deploys special forces to Cyprus to rescue hostages rescue captured by Hamas

The German Armed Forces have deployed elite Special Forces to Cyprus, with the potential mission of rescuing Germans held captive by the Hamas movement, an Islamist organization. Furthermore, these forces may also play a role in evacuating German citizens from regions such as the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. This information has been reported by Bild.
Sources within security circles have indicated that all the necessary ammunition required for the operation has been transported to the deployment location. Additionally, the German Navy's special forces, known as "combat swimmers," are positioned nearby, prepared to provide reinforcements from the sea if the situation demands it.
Specialized federal police forces, with expertise in hostage rescue operations, have been activated for this mission. In addition, the Bundeswehr the German armed forces, has dispatched military transport aircraft to the relevant region.
The German government emphasized, "We are at a low start and are ready for any development."
Concurrently with this deployment of German Federal Police has dispatched renowned specialized units, particularly the GSG 9, known for their proficiency in hostage rescue operations on the island. Furthermore, the Bundeswehr has undertaken measures to enhance its operational capabilities by deploying military transport planes encompassing the A400M and C-130 aircraft.
The possible operation under consideration may have the objective of liberating German hostages currently held in captivity by Hamas or facilitating the evacuation of all German citizens situated in the Gaza Strip or Lebanon.
It has been reported that if this evacuation is executed with the involvement of German special forces, it would pertain to a group of individuals numbering in the double digits. According to information provided by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are currently eight individuals holding German citizenship who are among the hostages detained by Hamas.
Recently, the United States placed approximately 2,000 troops and multiple units on high alert in response to the situation in the Middle East. The Pentagon has stressed that no decisions have been made regarding the deployment of forces in the region.
In earlier developments, the U.S. Department of Defense dispatched two aircraft carriers, the Gerald Ford and the Dwight Eisenhower to the Eastern Mediterranean, while bolstering its fighter group in the area.
Simultaneously, the U.S. House of Representatives initiated the drafting of a bill concerning the potential use of the U.S. military in Israel in the event that the conflict with Hamas escalates into a larger confrontation with Iran. Tehran had previously issued a threat to intervene should Israel launch a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.
