India experienced another cyberattack from Pakistan-based hackers aimed at destabilising India’s digital infrastructure. Intelligence sources confirm to ANI that four similar incidents have occurred in recent days, all involving the same group. This marks a significant surge in attempts to target India’s public interactive websites after hackers failed to breach mission-critical systems.
The group calls itself “IOK Hacker,” short for Internet of Khilafah. Officials state that the hackers attempt to deface websites, disrupt services, and collect personal data. India’s multi-layered cybersecurity systems detect the intrusions in real time and trace them back to Pakistan. Security officials note that “IOK Hacker” emerges as a new digital threat, developing alongside continued ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) from Pakistan.
Authorities added that the attacks include posting inflammatory propaganda on the websites of Army Public School (APS) Srinagar and APS Ranikhet. The group also launched a DDoS attack against the APS Srinagar portal. Simultaneously, the hackers tried to breach the Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO) database and the Indian Air Force Placement Organisation portal.
Cybersecurity teams responded immediately. They took down all four targeted websites and began restoration efforts right away. There are no breaches of classified or operational systems, which proves the strength of India’s cyber defence protocols. Officials point out that although the attacks show hostile intent, they fail to cause any real damage to India’s defence infrastructure.
Meanwhile, tensions increased along the LoC. On the night of April 28–29, Pakistani troops carried out small arms firing in multiple areas opposite Kupwara and Baramulla districts, and in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army responded swiftly and effectively, said the officials. “This is the fifth consecutive day of India’s effective retaliation since the Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked firing on the night of April 25–26,” an Indian Army official noted.
Similar firing incidents occurred the previous night in areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch as well.
Hacking attempts intensified after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 people. Since then, the Indian Army has bolstered its anti-terror operations across the Kashmir Valley.
