The Indian Army, on Saturday, said Pakistan forces fired at them and targeted a quadcopter when Indian troops foiled an infiltration attempt and shot dead three terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Brigadier PMS Dhillon, commander of the Pir Panjal Brigade, said the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police foiled a major infiltration bid by killing three terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri town of Baramulla district.
According to Dhillon, while two terrorists were killed and their bodies were recovered, the third terrorist was also killed, but the removal of his body was hampered by the firing from a Pakistani post in the vicinity.
"Based on specific inputs, in a joint operation launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, an infiltration bid was foiled today in Baramulla. Three terrorists tried to infiltrate and were engaged by alert troops. Two terrorists were eliminated and their bodies were recovered, the third terrorist was killed but the retrieval of the body was interfered with by the firing from a Pakistani post in the vicinity. Search operations are underway," the brigadier said at a press briefing.
Giving details of the operation Khanda, the officials said that two terrorists were killed in the ensuing gunfight and their bodies were recovered.
"The army came under heavy firing across the border from Pakistan army when they were attempting to retrieve the body of a third killed terrorist," the Indian Army said in its statement.
This is a clear violation of the LoC ceasefire agreed in 2021. The army said the operation in the Uri sector is going on.
Two AK Rifles, one pistol, seven hand Grenades, one Improvised explosive device (IED), and other war-like stores, along with Pakistan currency notes were recovered from the bodies of slain terrorists, the Army said.
The attempt at infiltration and the ensuing encounter occurred as part of an operation in the Anantnagdistrict to eliminate terrorists who had set up camp in a forested area with hills as their terrain. The gunfight entered its fourth day on Saturday.
