The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed strong concern about the worsening security situation in South Asia. They warned that India’s unfounded accusations against Pakistan are escalating tensions in an already unstable region.
In a joint statement at the United Nations in New York, OIC member states criticised the recent developments and called for all sides to exercise caution. The OIC pointed out that India’s inflammatory rhetoric and baseless claims against Pakistan are contributing to the instability in South Asia. "Such baseless allegations are further fueling tensions in an already unstable region," the group warned.
The OIC also reaffirmed its position, condemning terrorism in all its forms and rejecting any attempt to link terrorism to any specific country, religion, race, or culture. "The OIC condemns terrorism wherever and in whatever form it takes, but rejects all attempts to link it to any specific nation or community," the statement emphasised. The OIC Group once again highlighted the long-standing United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding the Jammu and Kashmir conflict, calling it a central issue that continues to threaten peace and stability in the region.
"The unresolved dispute over Jammu and Kashmir remains a fundamental obstacle to peace in South Asia. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are still being denied their inalienable right to self-determination," the statement read.
The joint statement also highlighted Pakistan's continued patience in handling provocations and its dedication to resolving conflicts peacefully. "The OIC appreciates Pakistan’s mature approach and its consistent message that it does not seek confrontation," the group said, calling it commendable. The OIC has asked the international community, especially the UN Security Council and powerful countries, to take quick and serious action to reduce tensions. It also urged diplomatic efforts to stop the situation from getting worse and to promote talks between Pakistan and India.
