Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bihar and Uttar Pradesh on Friday and addressed a rally in Karakat. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several development projects worth over ₹48,520 crore in Bihar.
He laid the foundation stone for Stage-II (3x800 MW) of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project in the Aurangabad district worth ₹29,930 crore. This project aims to increase power generation, support industrial development, and create jobs in the region.
Later, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 15 major development projects worth over ₹47,600 crore in Kanpur. He also inaugurated the new underground stretch of the Kanpur metro rail project from Chunniganj to Kanpur Central. This stretch includes five underground stations: Chunniganj, Bada Chauraha, Naveen Market, Nayaganj, and Kanpur Central. With this extension, key locations like Lal Imli, Z Square Mall, Green Park Stadium, Parade Ground, Book Market, and Somdutt Plaza are connected via metro.
Presently, nine stations are already operational between IIT Kanpur and Motijheel. The new section made travel by metro more convenient, faster, and safer.
Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated three 660-megawatt power units in Ghatampur. He also inaugurated a thermal power project in Panki. These projects aimed to ensure stable and adequate electricity for Uttar Pradesh and nearby states.
While speaking at the rally in Karakat, Bihar, Prime Minister Modi referred to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. He recalled his earlier vow to retaliate.
He said that after the killing of innocent civilians, he had promised to destroy terror camps and deliver a response beyond expectations.
"Even the name of the land Sasaram, carries the name of Ram. The people of Sasaram know the customs of Bhagwan Ram. 'Praan jaaye par vachan na jaaye'... Just a day after the dreadful terrorist attack in Pahalgam, I made a promise to the nation from the soil of Bihar that the hideouts of the masters of terrorism would be reduced to dust, that they would face a punishment beyond their imagination. Today, I have come to Bihar, I have returned after fulfilling my promise," Modi said at the rally.
The Prime Minister said that many innocent civilians had lost their lives in the heinous act of terror in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22. He stated that Pakistan and the world had seen the power of the ‘sindoor’ of India’s daughters.
He said the terrorists thought they were safe under the protection of the Pakistan Army, but Indian forces brought them to their knees.
"The power of 'sindoor' of the daughters of India... this was seen by Pakistan as well as the world! The terrorists considered themselves safe under the protection of the Pakistani Army... our forces brought them to their knees in one stroke," Modi said. PM Modi also visited the family of Pahalgam attack victim Shubham Dwivedi.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary joined Prime Minister Modi at the rally.
