The Indian Army has launched "Vidyut Rakshak," an Internet of Things-enabled system developed by the Army Design Bureau (ADB) to monitor, protect, and control generators. The system was officially unveiled today by Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS), highlighting the Army's commitment to integrating cutting-edge technologies for enhanced operational capabilities.
Major Rajprasad R S spearheaded the development of "Vidyut Rakshak," which was recently showcased during "Exercise Bharat Shakti," attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This demonstration underscored the Indian Army's proactive approach in adopting innovative solutions to bolster efficiency and effectiveness in military operations.
The introduction of "Vidyut Rakshak" signifies a strategic advancement in the Army's technological arsenal, aimed at bolstering monitoring and control capabilities over generators. The system's deployment reflects the Army's ongoing efforts to leverage state-of-the-art technologies to address operational challenges and enhance readiness across various domains.
The Indian Army officially launched the first production units of "Vidyut Rakshak" during a ceremony that highlighted its capabilities in monitoring and controlling generators. Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS), remotely activated generators in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, and monitored their performance parameters from New Delhi, demonstrating the system's operational prowess.
Lt Gen Dwivedi praised the Army Design Bureau (ADB) for its adept technology absorption and innovative methods. This follows an MoU signed with FITT, IIT Delhi, at Aero India 2023. "Vidyut Rakshak" marked the inaugural project under this partnership, with technology transfer finalised during the 'Indian Army Ideas and Innovation Competition' in December 2023, overseen by COAS General Manoj Pande.
General Pande expressed his appreciation for the ADB's efforts, emphasising the significance of "Vidyut Rakshak" in advancing the Army's technological capabilities. He noted, "As the Indian Army observes the 'Year of Tech Absorption,' the successful development of 'Vidyut Rakshak' from concept to deployment sets a precedent for leveraging technology to drive transformative change."
In addition to "Vidyut Rakshak," the Indian Army has recently secured a patent for another innovation by Major Rajprasad, known as the "Portable Multi-Target Detonation Device." This device has already been integrated into Army operations, underscoring the Army's commitment to innovation and enhancing its technological arsenal.
The launch of "Vidyut Rakshak" represents a significant milestone in the Indian Army's journey towards technological advancement and operational excellence. By harnessing cutting-edge technologies and fostering innovation, the Army continues to bolster its readiness and efficiency, ensuring robust support for its operations across diverse operational landscapes.
