I am the son of a lorry driver who met with an accident and was bed ridden for 6 months when I was 12. He worked hard for another 18 years with broken leg. I know what it us like when regular cash flows are stopped suddenly for the middle class. Many people like me are victims of corruption in our day to day lives. Starting from fake scholarships, fake certificates, exploitation in micro financing, extortion by RTA and other Government officials. I also worked as a sales boy in medical shops for Rs.450 and I know how a lot of wholesale trade happens in India again through first hand experience. While anti corruption crusaders are worried about the top 100 corrupt business men; when the day to day lives of common men become corruption free or at least accountable, these top 100 will also have to stay tuned with the rest of us. Our lives are impacted more by corrupt people around us than 'Ambanis or Adanis'. Narendra Modi is the only one who is handling the issue holistically. We need to support this, not for Modi but
- For us and for our kids
- For the future of citizens
- For a corruption free Nation and Democracy
- For the betterment of the world
We the educated middle class are the backbone of the country, and we can transform the Nation. We should start verifying the rumors and counter them.
I have been checking with people on the ground, most small to medium size business owners are happy. But over the weekend some of the vegetable vendors in farmer's markets are worried as it has hit them hard. One guy tried to spread rumors that hospital is only accepting cash, I verified and found out that he was lying and spreading rumors. When I exposed him, he deleted all his posts.

I am amazed at how patiently people are handling this huge inconvenience. Long lines at ATMs but I have noticed no riots or anything violent. Many times, ATM’s stops working when your turn comes or money finishes, but they wait till help arrives to fix it. Another wonder is how technical support is handling this huge crisis in such a huge country. They are very prompt and efficient.
Small shops have been empty - no customers but I didn’t see any protests or anything. Vendors are complaining as their livelihood is affected but they don’t seem to be demoralized at all. That tells me that at some deeper level everyone wanted some positive transformation so they are hopeful of that. I am just glad I am here to watch this huge event in India first hand.
We were watching CNN coverage of American elections on Nov 8th, and then suddenly Mr. Modi’s unannounced speech came up - totally unexpected and no one had any anticipation of what was he was going to say. I will always remember those few moments and why was it was important to keep it under wraps until then - all became clear by the time he finished that speech. Every promise made by him that evening is being followed through very precisely. His whole effort is to painstakingly guide us through this transition - as if holding our finger to help us cross the road to the better side. I have a renewed respect for him and India.

I am in Pune right now and witnessing this with my own eyes. I see how people are suffering because of the inconvenience caused by demonetization. The poor whose livelihood is based on their day-to-day income are stuck because people are not able spend cash. ATM's are not working and long queues are seen everywhere near the banks. However, despite all odds, people are still very happy, proud and very understanding.
An example from my experiences yesterday: An auto driver who didn't have credit card machine expressed his feeling that he could not get passengers for whole day. Still he sounded very happy. He also said that few passengers he gets are generally very nice and tend to give some extra than expected after understanding his situation.
I was in tears when I saw how people's mentality has started changing..They are actually thinking for each other and about each other. This India we have been dreaming for long.
All I can say is - Salute to Modiji.
