Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, wrote to outgoing U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris to congratulate her on her energetic presidential campaign. He mentioned that her message of unity and hope will keep inspiring many people.

Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris in the fiercely contested US presidential election. "I would like to congratulate you on your spirited Presidential campaign. Your unifying message of hope will continue to inspire many," said the Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. India and the United States have strengthened their collaboration on global issues under the Biden administration, according to the former chief of the Congress party.

In a letter issued on November 7, Rahul Gandhi asserted, “Our shared commitment to democratic values will continue to guide our friendship. As the Vice-President, your determination to bring people together and find common ground will be remembered.” The former chief of the Congress also wished Harris the best for future endeavours as he added, “I wish you the very best in your future endeavours.” 

On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the US President-elect Donald Trump after Trump’s recent election win. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that PM Modi congratulated Trump on his strong victory, viewing it as a sign of the American people's confidence in his leadership. Both leaders expressed their commitment to strengthening ties between the US and India, especially in areas like technology, defence, energy, and space.

Trump defeated Kamala Harris, a Democrat, to win the presidency at the age of 78, marking a dramatic political comeback. He had previously served as the 45th President, following his initial victory in the 2016 election.
