Mushaal Hussein Malik, wife of jailed Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, has been made a part of the caretaker government in Pakistan. She has been appointed special advisor to the caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on human rights and women empowerment, as per a report by GeoTV.
Yasin Malik, the chief of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), had been found guilty by a National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in terror funding cases and was sentenced to life imprisonment on May 25, 2022.
According to reports, Mushaal will support Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the interim prime minister of Pakistan, in his role as "special assistant" for human rights. She won't hold a full minister position in his cabinet because she is not a Pakistani citizen, according to the Pakistani website Aaj.
A Kashmiri politician named Mushaal wed Yasin Malik in February 2009. The two allegedly got acquainted in 2005 while Malik was on tour in Pakistan.
Pakistan's national assembly was dissolved on August 9 - ending Shehbaz Sharif's tenure. The general elections in the country are expected to be held within 90 days, says reports.
The general elections will be delayed as Pakistan's election commission decided to conduct a fresh delimitation of Constituencies on the basis of the new census. According to the schedule announced by the ECP on Thursday, the delimitation would be completed on December 14, which is beyond the 90-day period to hold polls after the dissolution of the assembly.
In the meanwhile, the interim government has been tasked with running the cash-strapped country until the general elections and ensuring a seamless transition of power.

The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) had been banned in 2019. Furthermore, on July 15 of this year, Rubaiya Sayeed, the sister of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti and daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, identified Yasin Malik in connection with her kidnapping on December 8, 1989.
