The beauty about internet is that few keystrokes and right kind of searches and you get a chance to own a Pandora's Box. The speed with which propaganda spreads through internet, it also has the potential to get exposed in short span of time. It reminds me of the words of a Director of a well-known BSE listed Company. “Dear, sensations disappear in split seconds if the facts appear”. I am reminded of these words when I was going through social media and found Romila Thapar being discussed.
The controversy about Romila Thapar being asked to submit her Curriculum Vitae (CV) for JNU has gathered storm among the usual suspects. Not surprising. They Left-Liberal cabal is known for this. Pick up a non-issue and then blow the trumpet at loudest decibels is their standard tactic. While the controversy was being discussed it was found that the issue was nothing but a standard operating procedure as one can see from various chats. So as I said, the sensation generated by usual suspects got exposed in no time.
One of the unwritten yet evident objectives of this cabal is to create noise and make every attempt to show that "Intolerance" is rising and BJP government led by Narendra Modi is responsible for it. So even when due procedure is followed (which was the case in her CV being asked for) they feel that they are being suppressed. The issue is not suppression or following of standard operating procedures here. The issue is that these Assorted Clowns of Left-Liberal Cabal have often felt entitled and behaved like one. They have always felt that they are above the Law and Process.
It is this sense of entitlement that makes these Left-Liberal Operators feel that it's absolutely ok for them to defy the process and in case they are being asked to follow them they will shout from roof-top to show what an intolerant the administration is. But lest try to understand the issue here with an example. Was it wrong to ask for the CV of Romila Thapar? Why does she have a problem in submitting it? Why is that they are creating a noise for merely a procedural issue? I have seen usual suspects on Social Media claiming and talking about her "eminence", "contribution", "experience", "seniority" blah blah blah...Let me ask...Just because you are known as "Eminent" in your social circle, does it mean that you are allowed to defy the procedure? Well let me give a small example from a profession that I know closely.
When one is applying for a job he not only has to share the mark sheet of his exams but is even expected to share his work experience (in case where the job profile expects experienced candidates). Now consider the issue in light of so called controversy of Romila Thapar. By merely asking for CV of Romila Thapar has any insulting treatment being meted out to her? No it's the normal procedure. Its common sense isn’t it? But then how can we expect sense from the Left-Liberal Cabal.
But let’s not see the issue in isolation. The Left-Liberal cabal has habit of creating noise…and they put their finest tactic into practise while doing this…’When you can’t convince them, confuse them’. The incident reminded me of how these usual suspects operated when Vajpayee government was in power. The usual suspects were shouting that Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) has been filled with people who were supporting the claim of there being a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The same bunch was also up against the then Vajpayee government claiming that NDA government was trying to change the direction of ICHR from ‘Rational’ to ‘National’ citing a resolution.
However when Arun Shourie (yes the same fellow who till recently was the darling of the cabal), who has narrated this entire incident in his book ‘Eminent Historians’ (the book), did a research on this he found that the word ‘Rational’ was replaced due to a typographical error and that too not during the tenure of Vajpayee government but almost 20 years back in 1978. But think when did the usual suspects create a storm of typographical error and levelled allegations on the then government? They did only when the party they despise the most came to power and assumed office under leadership of Vajpayee ji. I would say it was Intellectual dishonesty.
The book also narrates how usual suspects and their media friends levelled allegations against Vajpayee led government of had nominated pro Ram Mandir historians on ICHR. The author of the book rightly asks that even if it was assumed that Vajpayee government did nominate folks who supported the claim of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, what about those historians who were not nominated? Well these historians were not only opposed to the claim of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya but were also propagandists for Babri Masjid Action Committee. Imagine the Left Wing historians were not only occupying high posts due to government nomination but were in effect drafting the entire legal defence for Babri Masjid Action Committee.
The intellectual dishonesty of the likes of Romila Thapzr was exposed when Chandrashekhar who as Prime Minister sought to resolve the Ram Mandir issue through consultation and mediation. He as Prime Minister invited both the VHP (and others for Ram Mandir) on one hand and Babri Committee (having representation of Leftist historians like Romila Thapar). The VHP and others presented capacious historical, archaeological data which was sufficient to junk the claim of Leftist historians.
So what did the Leftist historians do in response to the evidence? They simply stopped all the negotiations and coming to meetings. As the author rightly said, it’s these historians like Romila Thapar who are to be blamed for non-resolution of the dispute and creating a rift between both the Hindus and Muslims. These historians didn’t stop merely at scuttling the negotiations initiated by the then Prime Minister Chandrashekar but they went a step further and became witnesses for Babri Committee. It might shock you to learn that Romila Thapar was one of the witnesses for Babri Committee and her number was ‘Witness No. 66’ (now you know why I have given this title to the article). Imagine…these left historians were not only entitled by their sympathisers but even got nominations at government bodies like ICHR. Remember ICHR is the body that was entrusted to prepare studies and manuscripts for India’s history. This perhaps explains why the claims that our history books have been filled with propaganda against Hindus has merit in it.
These historians have not only unleashed propaganda and scuttled peaceful negotiations but have even used various platforms to further their own interest at the cost of Nation’s interest. As the book states, ICHR was entrusted with ‘Translation Project’ wherein volumes of ‘Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’ on history and culture were to be translated into Indian languages. These volumes were one of the best sources of history and culture of India. However a committee comprising of Leftist historians was formed and the committee declared that the volumes of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’ are “NOT SUITABLE” for translation into Indian languages.
You would be surprised to know that same Romila Thapar, among others, was member of this committee. The committee didn’t stop here. It recommended alternative titles to be translated into Indian languages. Now here is the shocker…the titles that were recommended by the committee were written by the very members of the Committee. Three (3) titles written by Romila Thapar were suggested by committee comprising of Romila Thapar for translation. Imagine how these folks deprived a large section of the population from the magnificent work of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’ and instead the population was fed with works which among others contain propaganda against Hindu religion, culture etc. as often claimed by avid readers.
These incidents show how Left-Liberal cabal not only thinks that it is entitled but it also gets involved in sabotaging negotiations, stopping spread of right information and unleashing propaganda against Hindu religion and culture. It is high time that the stranglehold of the Left-Liberal cabal on academia, media be removed at the earliest.
