'Will work on Strategic Partnership': PM Modi dials new British PM Starmer, Invites him to India

On July 6th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a conversation with the new British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, during which they both expressed their dedication to strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and the UK, as well as enhancing their strong economic relations.
PM Modi extended an invitation to Starmer to visit India and conveyed congratulations on the Labour Party's significant victory in the UK general elections.
In a social media post, Modi stated, "I had a constructive discussion with @Keir_Starmer. I congratulated him on assuming office as Prime Minister of the UK. We are committed to advancing our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and fostering robust economic ties between India and the UK for the mutual progress and prosperity of our peoples and the global good."
According to a statement from the prime minister’s office, both leaders discussed their commitment to swiftly finalising a mutually advantageous India-UK Free Trade Agreement. Reflecting on the longstanding ties between their nations, they acknowledged the significant contributions of the Indian community to the social, economic, and political fabric of the UK. They also agreed to further strengthen close people-to-people connections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the significance of the "living bridge" between the UK and India during discussions with Prime Minister Keir Starmer, underscoring the importance of the 2030 roadmap. Both leaders recognised the vast potential for collaboration across various domains, including defense and security, critical and emerging technologies, and climate change.
The day before, on July 5, Modi had expressed optimism about their future collaboration in enhancing the India-UK comprehensive strategic partnership following Starmer's election as Prime Minister. Modi also commended outgoing Prime Minister and Conservative Party leader Rishi Sunak for his commendable leadership and proactive efforts in strengthening bilateral ties between India and the UK throughout his tenure.
Keir Starmer assumed office as the new Prime Minister following a landslide victory for his Labour Party in the parliamentary elections, which resulted in a significant defeat for the incumbent Conservative Party led by Rishi Sunak.
In congratulating the new UK leader, Modi expressed his warmest congratulations and best wishes to Keir Starmer for his impressive victory in the UK general elections. Modi also conveyed his anticipation for a positive and constructive collaboration aimed at enhancing the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across all domains, promoting mutual growth and prosperity.
