Mumbai, 20 January 2026: Day Five of the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Ki Oar Conclave and Exhibition at August Kranti Maidan was marked by in-depth discussions on sovereignty, global institutions, and evolving frameworks of international cooperation, alongside continued student-led engagement and public participation. The entire event was held under the aegis of His Holiness 79th Spiritual Sovereign Jainacharya Yugbhushansuri Maharaj Saheb.
The Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Exhibition remained open throughout the day, with visitors engaging with the presentation of 12 timeless principles rooted in ancient Indian wisdom. The exhibition continued to serve as a grounding framework for discussions on governance, diplomacy, and institutional responsibility.
Student participation remained robust, with Model United Nations (MUN) sessions conducted across multiple time blocks and Nalanda Vaad sessions facilitating structured debates and dialogue. These platforms encouraged students to explore diplomacy, governance, and ethical decision-making through experiential learning formats.
The morning featured a session on Sovereignty: Ancient and Modern, held at Mathuradas Hall. The session included His Holiness and S. Gurumurthy, Part-Time Director on the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India and Editor, Thuglak Magazine. The session examined the evolution of sovereignty from civilisational perspectives to contemporary nation-state frameworks. The discussion addressed economic sovereignty, cultural autonomy, and governance models in a globalised world.
In the afternoon, Panel 4 on Multilateral Institutions and Sankraman Kaal convened speakers including Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj, India’s Former Permanent Representative to the United Nations; Prashant Sharma, Founder, Dharma Alliance (Moderator); Shri Rajiv Nayan, Secretary General, Indian Association of International Studies (IAIS); and Sameer Patil, Director, Centre for Security, Strategy and Technology, Observer Research Foundation (ORF), with Anay Joglekar participating as a key delegate.
The panel explored the functioning, relevance, and reform of multilateral institutions amid shifting geopolitical realities.
The day also included a series of podcast sessions on Think Tanks, Professionals, and Education, bringing together experts from policy, industry, and academia for focused discussions aimed at wider public understanding. The session saw the signing of the August Kranti Maidan Declaration by the panellists.
Adding to the immersive public engagement on Day Five of the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Ki Oar Conclave, visitors at August Kranti Maidan experienced a compelling laser show and street play performances that brought civilisational ideas into the public space.
The evening laser show visually interpreted key themes of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, highlighting the interconnectedness of family, society, and global harmony through light, sound, and narration. The experience drew large crowds and served as a powerful medium to communicate timeless Indian principles in a contemporary format.
Earlier in the day, street play performances by students and youth groups engaged audiences through relatable social narratives, focusing on values, responsibility, justice, and collective well-being. Performed in open areas of the venue, the plays encouraged dialogue and reflection among visitors from diverse age groups.
Overall, 20 January highlighted the conclave’s emphasis on sovereignty, global cooperation, and institutional reform, while maintaining a strong focus on youth engagement and public education.
