Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has asked the police department to start a strong and focused campaign, along with the administration, to quickly and strictly act against foreign nationals living illegally in the state by using fake documents like false Aadhar cards.
He also ordered strict action against anyone helping these intruders make fake certificates. CM Dhami told police officers to take tough steps against the drug mafia, saying that keeping the public’s trust is the most important thing. The Chief Minister clearly told officials that Uttarakhand Police should be friendly with the public, but at the same time, they must create fear in the minds of criminals. He said that Uttarakhand is known as a peaceful state both in India and abroad. However, he stressed that the police must stay alert so that criminals don't take advantage of this peaceful image or see the state as a safe place for crime. He also asked the police to improve their working style and build better communication with the people. All SSPS and SPS have been told to hold public hearings at police stations so that common people can get quick justice.
During the state-level police seminar, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a long meeting that went on for more than three hours on Thursday night at the Police Headquarters in Dehradun. He discussed departmental updates with the Director General of Police, along with all SPS and SSPS officers. While speaking with the Nainital SSP about the parking and traffic situation at Kainchi Dham, the Chief Minister instructed officials to set up a helipad there within the next 10 days. He also said he would personally visit the helipad after 10 days. In addition, he asked for immediate proposals to be submitted for parking and other tourism-related development work at the site. Taking serious note of delays in filing FIRs for cyber crimes, the Chief Minister has asked for a detailed report on the current status of these cases. He has given clear instructions to take quick action in all cybercrime-related matters and has also ordered the start of public awareness campaigns on the issue.
To improve the overall work culture of the police department, Chief Minister Dhami has directed the Director General of Police to take immediate and strict action against any police officer found involved in any illegal activity, including land-related issues at the police station level. He emphasised that carelessness will not be tolerated. To support the well-being of police personnel, the Chief Minister has asked for residential facilities to be built near police stations and has instructed that the work to modernise police stations be completed quickly. He also asked for a report on the current status of CCTV cameras, especially in Dehradun. CM Dhami told officials to check the CCTV needs across the state and submit the report soon. Additionally, he directed the Home Secretary and DGP to work with the Government of India to set up the proposed Forensic Lab in Udham Singh Nagar. The Chief Minister asked for an update on the police stations that have been adopted by all SSPS and SPS and instructed them to keep improving through regular inspections.
According to a statement, CM Dhami also told officials to quickly arrange a meeting with the Transport Department to set up temporary parking and start a shuttle service in Nainital. He emphasised that a model of traffic management and parking should be created that can be used as an example for other states. The Chief Minister also directed the collection of passenger data during the tourist season and the Chardham Yatra. He stressed the need for organised data collection to help plan and develop effective policies and strategies. He also ordered the installation of display boards and SMS alerts to provide real-time traffic updates on major routes, including the Chardham route. Home Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, DGP Deepam Seth, and all officers from the police department, including SSPS and SPS from every district, attended the meeting.
