On Tuesday the US condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan's Balochistan province, which resulted in the death of over 130 army soldiers and said that it stands with Islamabad in its fight against terrorism.
Sharing a post on X, the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs of the US State Department said, "The United States strongly condemns the multiple attacks in Pakistan's Balochistan province which took many lives."
Expressing condolences to those who lost their lives in the attacks, it further added, "Any violence disrupting peace and stability is indefensible. We stand with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism and we send our deepest condolences to those who lost their loved ones."
Earlier in a detailed statement to the media, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch announced the successful conclusion of Operation Herof, a 20-hour military campaign that inflicted significant losses on Pakistani forces.
The operation resulted in the martyrdom of nine fidayeen from the BLA’s Majeed Brigade and one fighter from the Fateh Squad. The BLA claimed that the operation caused heavy casualties to the Pakistani Army, with 130 personnel reported killed.
The spokesperson honoured the self-sacrificing revolutionaries, starting with Operational Commander Ghous Bakhsh Simalani, known as Talib, who led the attack on the Bela Headquarters. Simalani, a dedicated freedom fighter from Turkhdi, Shahrag, has been with the BLA since 2019. He was the son of Meshedar Simalani, a respected BLA warrior who achieved martyrdom in November 2022 during a fierce battle against Pakistani forces.
Following in the footsteps of his father and younger brother, both of whom sacrificed their lives for the cause, Ghous Bakhsh joined the Majeed Brigade in 2022. Despite being wounded early in the operation, he led his comrades with exceptional bravery, eliminating several soldiers and fighting for 20 hours before achieving martyrdom.
Among the martyrs was Sangat Mahil Baloch, also known as Zalan Kurd, a 22-year-old law student from Surbandar, Gwadar. Mahil, who joined the BLA in 2022, embodied the revolutionary spirit of Baloch women. As the driver of an explosive-laden vehicle, she launched the attack on the Army’s headquarters, allowing her fellow fighters to breach the camp. Her self-sacrifice highlighted the crucial role women play in the Baloch liberation movement, demonstrating that the struggle transcends gender and unites all Baloch people in their quest for freedom.
Another courageous individual was Sangat Rizwan Baloch, known as Hammal, a 22-year-old revolutionary from Panwan, Gwadar. Rizwan joined the BLA and the Majeed Brigade in 2022. During Operation Herof, he valiantly drove the second explosive-laden vehicle into the Bela Headquarters, causing significant disruption to the Pakistani Army.
The spokesperson honoured Muhammad Baloch, known as Mirak, from Surab Tasp, Panjgur, a BLA fighter who joined in 2022 and fought with unwavering dedication. His relative, Sangat Raees, had died in the 2018 Karachi consulate attack.
Sangat Fazal Gul Zehri, known as Shavez, a skilled sniper from Pirshar, Zehri, Khuzdar, joined the BLA in 2022. During the Bela camp attack, he took out over a dozen soldiers with headshots, aiding his comrades' advance.
Sangat Tayab, known as Lala, from Ahmedwal, Noshki, left his military career to join the BLA after realising Baloch oppression. He fought bravely until his ammunition was exhausted and took his own life to avoid capture.
The youngest martyr, Sangat Junaid Zehri, known as Kami, was a 20-year-old from Samwani, Zehri, Khuzdar. Despite his youth, he fought for over 20 hours during Operation Herof, earning honour among his comrades.
The BLA spokesperson also honoured two fidayeen from the Majeed Brigade, Muhammad Asif Nechari, known as Naveed, and Muhammad Bakhsh Simalani, known as Khalid. They were heading to join their comrades in Bela when they clashed with Pakistani forces in Mastung. After a fierce battle in which they killed seven soldiers, both achieved martyrdom, showcasing their steadfast commitment to the Baloch cause.
Additionally, the spokesperson paid tribute to Sangat Shafqat Mengal, a brave member of the BLA’s Fateh Squad. A Balochistan University student and active participant in Baloch student politics, Shafqat joined the BLA in 2023 and became a key figure due to his combat skills. He fought valiantly during Operation Herof in the Mastung area.
The BLA reaffirmed its commitment to honouring these revolutionaries' sacrifices and vowed to continue the struggle for an independent Baloch homeland. Since 1948, Balochistan has faced unrest and harsh crackdowns by the Pakistani Army, prompting pro-independence groups like the BLA to engage in armed resistance against the occupation.
