The investigation into the leak will now be conducted by the Special Task Force (STF), as directed by the state government. Additionally, the government has ordered the registration of an FIR against all individuals whose negligence resulted in the leak.
The recruitment exam, which attracted over 48 lakh applicants, was conducted in two shifts. Out of these applicants, approximately 43 lakh candidates appeared for the examination.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in a post on 'X' in Hindi, emphasized the importance of upholding the integrity of examinations. He asserted, "There can be no compromise with the sanctity of examinations. Those who toy with the hard work of youngsters will not be spared under any circumstances. Strictest action is certain to be taken against such unruly elements." Across Uttar Pradesh, police detained over 240 individuals for allegedly attempting to use unfair means or planning to do so during the recruitment exam.
The police constable recruitment examination in Uttar Pradesh faced allegations of a paper leak circulating on social media platforms. Candidates said that the leaked paper was available for purchase at prices ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh.
They further claimed that several candidates had access to the leaked paper 8 to 12 hours before the scheduled start of the exam. In response to these allegations, the UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board established an internal committee to investigate the matter.
Senior officials of the board confirmed the formation of this committee to probe the allegations of paper leaks and the circulation of question papers and answer sheets on social media.
Hundreds of candidates who participated in the UP police constable recruitment exam 2024 assembled at Eco Garden in Lucknow and organized a large protest, calling for a re-examination. They alleged that the integrity of the exam was compromised due to a question paper circulating on social media hours before the exam's commencement.
