In preparation for the upcoming grand inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken measures to ban the sale of liquor within a 100-kilometer radius of the sacred site.
The decision was announced after a meeting between Excise Minister Nitin Aggarwal and Champat Rai, General Secretary of Ayodhya Ram Mandir Trust. As part of this initiative, the entire Ram Nagri, including the 84 Kos Parikrama Marg, has been designated as a liquor-prohibited area.
As the anticipated arrival of the Prime Minister in Ayodhya approaches, meticulous preparations are in progress for the significant events scheduled for December 30. On this day, the Prime Minister will undertake the personal inauguration of both the Shri Ram Airport and the Ayodhya Dham Railway Station.
Demonstrating a collaborative effort between the Uttar Pradesh government and the central government, exhaustive measures are being taken to ensure that every detail is attended to, contributing to the historic significance of the upcoming day.
The Yogi Adityanath government decided to prohibit the sale of liquor in the sacred city of Ayodhya, coinciding with the renaming of the Faizabad district to Ayodhya. In response to this development, local seers and sadhus advocated for the ban on both alcohol and meat, citing the objective of "preserving the sanctity of the place."
In June of the preceding year, the Yogi government implemented a ban on the sale of liquor in the vicinity of temples situated in Ayodhya and Mathura. The directive specifically targeted the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, signifying a government-issued order to prohibit the sale of alcohol in these revered locations.
Furthermore, authorities took decisive action by revoking the licenses of alcohol vendors in Ayodhya. In a parallel move, the administration of Mathura issued directives leading to the closure of thirty-seven establishments selling liquor, beer, and bhang in proximity to temples. Additionally, the three pubs situated within hotels in Mathura were also shut down.
As part of the state government's initiative, there is a proposal for the prominent traders of Mathura, known for their significant contribution to the dairy industry, to assume control of milk sales and inject new life into the sector.
