The Indian Army announced the death of Brigadier Amitabh Jha, who was the Deputy Force Commander (DFC) of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Golan Heights. At the time of his death, Brigadier Jha was also the mission's acting force commander.

The Indian Army has extended its heartfelt condolences to the victim's family, with top military leaders, including General Upendra Dwivedi, offering their support. The cause of his death has not been disclosed by the Army. His body is on its way back to India, where preparations are being made for a respectful and honourable farewell in recognition of his service to the country and the international community. The Golan Heights, where Brigadier Jha was stationed, has seen rising tensions in recent months.
