A day after the saffron party's stunning victory in the state, Rajesh Joon and Devender Kadyan, the two recently elected independent MLAs of Haryana, joined the BJP on Wednesday, increasing the party's total to 50 seats. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who was instrumental in the BJP's win in Haryana held a meeting with Rajesh Joon, Devender Kadyan, and Savitri Jindal after they reached Delhi earlier today.
The three Independent MLAs in Haryana, including Savitri Jindal, have indicated their willingness to support the BJP, according to Mohan Lal Badoli, the chief of the Haryana BJP. "All the three independent MLAs are very happy with BJP's victory and they are willing to support the party. They are in Delhi and are meeting the high command," Badoli stated.
Rajesh Joon, the candidate from Bahadurgarh, defeated Dinesh Kaushik of the BJP with a margin of 41,999 votes. BJP rebel Devender Kadyan won 35,209 votes from Ganaur to defeat Congress’s Kuldip Sharma in his independent candidacy. Mother of Kurukshetra BJP MP Naveen Jindal, Savitri Jindal, ran as an independent from Hisar in the election as well. She won 18,941 votes against Congress’s Ram Niwas Rara.
In the Haryana Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party orchestrated an incredible comeback, securing 48 seats – the highest number it has held since the state's founding in 1966. After leading in the first few rounds, the Congress ultimately secured 37 seats. While the JJP and AAP failed to register an account, the INLD managed to secure two seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for steering the party to victory for a third consecutive term during a meeting with him earlier in the day in Delhi.
