US President Donald Trump announced a series of agreements with Qatar valued at over $243.5 billion. He also signed a broader economic exchange worth at least $1.2 trillion.
Officials signed these agreements during Trump’s visit to Qatar. The deals cover aviation, energy, defence and quantum technology. One of the major highlights was a significant sale by Boeing and GE Aerospace to Qatar Airways. This marked Boeing’s largest-ever widebody aircraft order. These agreements aim to support more than 1 million American jobs and strengthen the strategic partnership between the United States and Qatar.
The White House issued a statement on Wednesday. It said, "Today in Qatar, President Donald J. Trump signed an agreement with Qatar to generate an economic exchange worth at least $1.2 trillion. President Trump also announced economic deals totalling more than $243.5 billion between the United States and Qatar, including a historic sale of Boeing aircraft and GE Aerospace engines to Qatar Airways."
The statement continued, "The landmark deals celebrated today will drive innovation and prosperity for generations, bolster American manufacturing and technological leadership, and put America on the path to a new Golden Age. Allies like Qatar are partnering in the United States' success."
Boeing and GE Aerospace secured a major $96 billion order from Qatar Airways. The agreement allows Qatar Airways to purchase up to 210 American-made Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777X aircraft powered by GE Aerospace engines. This is Boeing’s largest order of widebody aircraft and the largest-ever order for the 787. The deal is expected to support 154,000 US jobs annually and over 1 million jobs throughout the production and delivery phase.
Qatar also committed to investing up to $1 billion in advanced quantum technologies and workforce development through a joint venture. This investment will support jobs in both the US and Qatar and promote leadership in this critical emerging field.
The White House explained, "Today's signings mark President Trump's intent to accelerate Qatar's defence investment in the US-Qatar security partnership—enhancing regional deterrence and benefiting the US industrial base. The defence deals secured today lock in Qatar's procurement of state-of-the-art military equipment from two leading US defence companies."
Raytheon, an RTX business, secured a $1 billion agreement with Qatar for counter-drone systems. The US and Qatari governments signed the deal. This agreement makes Qatar the first international customer for Raytheon's Fixed Site - Low, Slow, Small Unmanned Aerial System Integrated Defeat System (FS-LIDS), designed to counter unmanned aircraft. The deal supports highly skilled US manufacturing and engineering jobs and strengthens America's leadership in advanced defence technology.
General Atomics secured a nearly $2 billion agreement with Qatar for the MQ-9B remotely piloted aircraft system. The US and Qatari governments signed the deal. This agreement will deepen the US-Qatar relationship and equip the Qatari Armed Forces with the world’s most advanced multi-mission remotely piloted aircraft, built with US-made products.
The United States and Qatar also signed a statement of intent to further enhance their security partnership. The document outlines over $38 billion in potential investments, including support for shared responsibilities at Al Udeid Air Base and future defence cooperation focused on air defence and maritime security.
The White House stated, "These new agreements and instruments aim to drive the growth of the US-Qatar bilateral commercial relationship, create thousands of well-paying jobs, and open new trade and investment opportunities for both countries over the coming decade and beyond."
President Trump is on a four-day trip to the Gulf. He began the visit in Saudi Arabia, which also hosted his first state visit during his first term in office from 2016 to 2020. His final stop on the trip will be the United Arab Emirates.
