Trump calls PM Modi after J&K Carnage; World leaders from China, Russia, France, others denounce 'barbaric' attack

US President Donald Trump expressed strong condemnation of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, during a phone call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He offered full support to India in holding those responsible for the "heinous attack" accountable.
"President Donald Trump @realDonaldTrump @POTUS called PM @narendramodi and conveyed his deepest condolences at the loss of innocent lives in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir," Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X.
Trump "strongly condemned the terror attack and expressed full support to India to bring to justice the perpetrators of this heinous attack. India and the United States stand together in the fight against terror," Jaiswal said. On Tuesday afternoon, terrorists opened fire at a popular tourist spot near Pahalgam, killing 26 people, mostly holidaymakers from other states. This attack is the deadliest in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike. In response to the attack, PM Modi, who was on a two-day state visit to Saudi Arabia, cut his trip short and decided to return to New Delhi on Tuesday night, instead of his planned return on Wednesday night.
The attack has shocked the nation and sparked widespread condemnation. On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that Trump was informed about the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir by the National Security Advisor and is being kept updated as more information becomes available. "What we know already is dozens were killed and even more were injured in a brutal terrorist attack in a popular tourist location in South Kashmir," she said.
According to Leavitt, Trump would talk to Prime Minister Modi "as soon as he possibly can to express his heartfelt condolences for those lost." "Our prayers are with those injured, and our nation's support for our ally, India. These types of horrific events by terrorists are why those of us who work for peace and stability in the world continue our mission," she said.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his condolences for the terror attacks in Kashmir, stating that the United States firmly supports India in the fight against terrorism. "Deeply disturbing news out of Kashmir. The United States stands strong with India against Terrorism. We pray for the souls of those lost and for the recovery of the injured. Prime Minister Modi and the incredible people of India have our full support and deepest sympathies. Our hearts are with you all!" Trump said in the post on Truth Social.
US Vice President J D Vance, who is in India with his wife, Second Lady Usha Vance and their children, also extended condolences to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam. "Over the past few days, we have been overcome with the beauty of this country and its people. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this horrific attack." National Security Advisor Mike Waltz termed the terror attacks as "a terrible tragedy". "Please join me in praying for the victims and their families," he said.
State Department's Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs said in a post on X that the "United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Kashmir. Nothing can justify such a heinous act, killing tourists and civilians. Our thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. We continue to monitor the situation and call for perpetrators to be held accountable." Secretary of State Marco Rubio, quoting the State Department's post on X, said "The United States stands with India."
Meanwhile, other world leaders, such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, also extended their support for India and expressed solidarity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his deep sorrow over the brutal attack and extended Israel's full support to India in its fight against terrorism. "My dear friend @narendramodi, I am deeply saddened by the barbaric terrorist attack in #Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, that killed and injured dozens of innocents. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims & their families. Israel stands with India in its fight against terrorism," Israel's Prime Minister's Office posted on X.
On the other hand, Italian Prime Minister Meloni expressed her deep sorrow over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, offering her condolences to the affected families, those injured, the government, and the people of India. She also showed solidarity with all those impacted by the tragedy. She was “ deeply saddened”.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron also expressed his condemnation of the attack and offered his condolences to the families of the victims. "A heinous attack has struck India, claiming the lives of dozens of men and women from all walks of life. We share the profound sorrow of the victims' families, to whom I extend my heartfelt condolences," he said.
Beijing's foreign ministry also expressed "sincere sympathies" over the attack in Pahalgam. "We mourn the victims and extend our sincere sympathies to the families of the victims and the injured," foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said, adding China "strongly condemns this attack".
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also expressed his shock over the "horrific attack" in his message to India, emphasising that there is "no justification for the violence." "I am shocked by the horrific terror attack on innocent civilians in Jammu and Kashmir overnight. There is no justification for this violence, and Australia condemns it. Our hearts go out to the injured, to those mourning loved ones, and to everyone in Australia touched by this terrible news," he wrote on X.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the "horrific terrorist attack in Kashmir" as "utterly devastating." "My thoughts are with those affected, their loved ones, and the people of India," he added in a post on X.
Russian President Putin also expressed his condolences to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi, condemning the "brutal crime" as completely unjustifiable. He assured that those responsible will receive the "deserved punishment." He conveyed "sincere condolences over the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, whose victims were civilians - citizens of various countries" and reaffirmed Russia's determination to work with Indian partners to combat terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations. "Please convey words of sincere sympathy and support to the near and dear ones of the deceased as well as wishes for a speedy recovery of all injured," he said.
Olaf Scholz, the chancellor of Germany, also denounced the "cowardly terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam." "Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the people of India," he wrote in a post on X.
Former Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Jugnauth, expressed his deep shock and strongly condemned the "heinous attacks" in Pahalgam. "My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved, the people of India, the Indian Government and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi," he said in a post on X.
The Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its condolences for the deaths and denounced the act. "Sri Lanka strongly condemns the heinous terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir today. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those injured," an X post said "Sri Lanka stands in firm solidarity with the Government and people of India in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. We reiterate our unwavering commitment to regional peace and security," it said.
In a post on X, Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, also strongly condemned the attack. "I condemn today's heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed many innocent lives. Our deep condolences go to the victims, their families and the people of India. The EU stands firm against terrorism."
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the terrorist attack. It affirmed that the UAE "expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at undermining security and stability in contravention of international law". The ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of India, and the families of the victims of this heinous attack, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured.
Even Pakistan, in response to the deadly terror attack, has expressed sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives and has wished a quick recovery to the people injured in the attack. "We are concerned about the loss of tourists' lives in an attack in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. We extend our condolences to the near ones of the deceased and wish the injured a speedy recovery," the Pakistan foreign minister said in a statement.
Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, in his message to India, said, "Terrible news from Pahalgam. Denmark stands with India and strongly condemns all acts of terrorism. Our condolences to the victims of the attack and their families and loved ones."
Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, has also denounced the terrorist act and stated, "My deepest condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and every Indian heart grieving today. Yet I know that India's spirit is unbreakable. You will stand strong in this ordeal. And Europe will stand with you."
