The MP-MLA Court in Gwalior issued a permanent arrest warrant against former Bihar chief minister Lalu Yadav in connection with an Arms Act case dating back 26 years. This warrant, issued on Friday, pertains to the alleged illegal procurement of arms and ammunition between 1995 and 1997. Lalu Prasad Yadav was declared absconding by the Inderganj police of Gwalior in April 1998 in relation to this case, which involves 23 other accused individuals.
As per the chargesheet, Rajkumar Sharma, an operator of a firm in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly bought arms and cartridges from three arms firms in Gwalior between 1995 and 1997 and transported them to Bihar for sale.
Among the buyers of these weapons in Bihar was Lalu Prasad Yadav. The police hold the belief that he is the same individual as the former Chief Minister of Bihar. Consequently, this case is being adjudicated in the MP-MLA court.
According to the details provided, the police submitted a charge sheet to the court in July 1998. However, in April 1998, prior to this, an absconding panchnama of Lalu Prasad Yadav was prepared, wherein his father's name was listed as Kundrika Singh. It's noteworthy that the actual name of the former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav's father is Kundan Rai.
The police submitted the challan and the list of absconding accused in court, where only Lalu Prasad Yadav's name was listed without his father's name. In contrast, the names of the other accused individuals in the case, along with their father's names and their respective cities, were mentioned. The confusion arising from the discrepancy in Lalu Prasad Yadav's father's name resulted in a delay in the progression of the case against him.
The acquisition of the specified arms and ammunition was facilitated through the fabrication of form number 16. Pravesh Kumar Chaturvedi, a resident of Gwalior and operator of Prakash Arms Store, reported this to the Inderganj police station.
According to the report, Rajkumar Sharma, operating Sharma Arms Store in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, obtained arms and cartridges by falsifying form number 16 of the firm and subsequently distributed them in Bihar.
