Titagarh Rail Systems launches diving support craft for Indian Navy

According to recent reports, Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) has achieved a significant milestone by successfully launching the first diving support craft (DSC) for the Indian Navy. The noteworthy event took place at TRSL's shipyard located in Titagarh, West Bengal. This launch marks the commencement of a project wherein TRSL is tasked with constructing a total of five such vessels for the Indian Navy.
As per official information, the collective contract value for all five DSCs stands at an estimated Rs 175 crore. This substantial undertaking underscores TRSL's commitment to bolstering the capabilities of the Indian Navy.
The launch ceremony was attended by dignitaries, with Aradhna Mahindru, the spouse of Vice Admiral Sanjay Mahindru, AVSM, NM, who serves as the deputy chief of the Naval Staff (DCNS), gracing the occasion.
The DSC unveiled during this ceremony stands as a testament to cutting-edge naval technology. It is equipped with advanced capabilities designed to facilitate diving operations across a spectrum of underwater environments. Furthermore, it boasts state-of-the-art diving apparatus and tools, all aimed at providing exceptional support to the divers of the Indian Navy. "We are extremely delighted to launch the first DSC to the Indian Navy. This is a significant milestone for us and we are committed to maintaining our stellar reputation of building quality ships," TRSL vice-chairman and managing director Umesh Chowdhary said.
Vice Admiral Sanjay Mahindru said, "The DSC project is a testament to the 'Make In India' initiative of the defence ministry and will help fulfill any mission requirement gaps of the Indian Navy's CCDTs. Although these DSCs will primarily provide support to ships docked at various harbours, they will also serve as an optimal platform for training the Indian Navy's diving cadre. We believe that these vessels will be a game-changer in conducting diving operations."
