On Wednesday, terrorists fired at an Army vehicle in the Sunderbani area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The attack took place around 1 pm near Phall village along the Sunderbani Malla Road, where a 9 JAK unit was patrolling. The attackers fired one or two rounds at the vehicle, but no casualties have been reported. The region is known as a traditional infiltration route used by terrorists.
According to the officials acquainted with the matter, “At 1300 hours (1 pm), an army vehicle was fired upon at Village Phall near Water Tank, a forest area, on Sunderbani-Malla Road close to the LoC,”
There were no casualties in the brief exchange of gunfire near Phal village in the Sunderbani sector, officials said. The attackers, suspected to be terrorists hiding in a forest, fired a few rounds at an army vehicle passing through the area, which is known as a traditional infiltration route. The troops returned fire in response, and reinforcements were sent to eliminate the threat. A search operation is currently underway.
In a separate incident, army personnel spotted suspicious movement near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keeri Battal Akhnoor sector in Jammu on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The troops opened fire, and a large-scale search operation was launched in the morning, which was still ongoing as of the latest reports.
Early Wednesday morning, BSF troops shot and killed a Pakistani intruder along the international border in Pathankot, Punjab, officials reported. The Border Security Force (BSF) detected suspicious movement near the Border Outpost Tashpatan. Despite being warned, the intruder continued advancing after crossing into Indian territory. In response, BSF personnel opened fire, killing the individual. Authorities are working to determine his identity.
A BSF spokesperson from the Jammu frontier stated that a strong protest will be lodged with Pakistan Rangers over the incident. The BSF is responsible for guarding the India-Pakistan border, including a 553-km stretch in Punjab.
“On Wednesday, at pre-dawn, our troops observed suspicious movement across the IB in BOP Tashpatan, Pathankot border area, and an intruder was seen crossing the IB. The alert troops challenged the intruder, but he did not heed the warning and kept moving," the BSF confirmed.
“Sensing the threat, our troops neutralised the intruder," it said further.
