In a recent attack in North Kashmir, terrorists shot and wounded two non-local workers who were involved in the Jal Jeevan Project in the Mazhama area of Budgam district. This incident has raised worries about the safety of non-locals in the region, especially after a series of violent attacks against non-local labourers and security forces.
Official sources claim that when attackers opened fire, the workers—who were named Sufiyan and Usman from Uttar Pradesh—were working close to the Mazhama graveyard on the banks of Nallah Sukhnag. Usman is stable after receiving a bullet wound to his arm, while Sufiyan is critically injured after being wounded in the leg. Both are undergoing cutting-edge care at Jhelum Valley Medical College right now.
After the assault, security personnel shut off entry and departure points, conducted thorough searches and roped off the area in an effort to capture the perpetrators. In the last three weeks, there have been three significant incidents, including this terror assault. Terrorists killed seven and injured five workers at the Z-Morh tunnel in Gagangeer, Ganderbal, on October 20.
Two troops and two civilian Army porters were killed in an attack on an Army convoy in Butapathri, Gulmarg, Baramulla, last week. According to reports, one of the two terrorists involved was a native of Kulgam in south Kashmir who joined a terrorist group in 2023, while the other is thought to have belonged to Pakistan.
The doctor and workers who were attacked were part of the construction team working on the Z-Morh tunnel, which links Gaganeer to Sonamarg in Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district. On October 18, terrorists killed a migrant worker from Bihar in the Shopian district of South Kashmir. Local residents found the worker's body, which had bullet wounds.
