The Chief Minister had previously laid the foundation stone for the Skill University at Meerkhanpet in Kandukur mandal, Rangareddy district, on August 1. The university has already started accepting students for six courses in its first academic year.
The university is designed to equip young people with employment skills through 20 different courses, with the goal of training one lakh unemployed youth each year. Anand Mahindra has been appointed as Chairman of the university’s Board of Governors to oversee its development.
Around 140 companies have expressed a strong interest in partnering with the institution. Among those already committed are SBI, NAC, Dr Reddy’s, TVAGA, Adani, and others, with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) also joining the initiative.
In its initial year, the university will offer certificate programs in sectors like e-commerce, logistics, and retail, helping students gain industry-relevant skills.
