On Tuesday, Delhi Police made a major announcement that the arrested juvenile student was involved in sending 400 alarming bomb threats to several schools in Delhi. Police said the juvenile student's family works for an NGO with close ties to a specific political party. This incident began when several Delhi schools received alarming emails claiming bombs were planted on their premises.
By providing detailed information, Special Commissioner of Police Law and Order Madhup Tiwari said that the observation is the result of research conducted by the police over the past few months. The investigation took a political turn when it was revealed that the juvenile student's family had connections to an NGO which has links with a particular political party. The NGO had previously played a role in questioning the legitimation of the notorious terrorist Afzal Guru.
"We suspected an anti-national or sabotage angle. When we did the profiling of the family of the juvenile as part of the investigation, we found that one of his parents is connected to an organisation with deep connections to an NGO," he said.
Though, he did not reveal the political party's name and said the investigation is still in its early stages. "This is a preliminary investigation. Further investigation is yet to be done...He had been sending the mail since the beginning. There are at least seven instances where we can say that it was he who sent the emails," Tiwari said further.
The incident and the Police's statement have sparked widespread outrage before assembly elections. Before that, on Sunday, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party complained that criminals have started taking the law-and-order situation in Delhi for granted and said that many mafias have terrorised the people of Delhi.
AAP accuses Union Home Minister Amit Shah; as per them, this "poor" law and order happened because of him, and they asked for his resignation. In this incident, the BJP has stated that the AAP is making false accusations and that the party is not fulfilling its promises to the people.
