In a letter directed to the residents of Tamil Nadu widely recognized as Thalapathy, Vijay declared his entry into politics. He conveyed that while his fan club, which transformed into a non-governmental organization, has been actively engaged in social welfare for several years, it acknowledges its limitations in effecting comprehensive social, economic, and political reforms independently. Hence, Vijay emphasized the necessity of political influence to bring about substantial change.

Referring to the couplet 'Enni Thuniga Karmam' from Thirukkural, Vijay disclosed the choice of naming the party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). He validated the commencement of the official registration process for the party. At a Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) meeting held in Chennai, crucial decisions, such as the selection of the party leader, appointment of functionaries, and the formulation of party rules, were thoroughly discussed and subsequently approved by the participants, as disclosed by the actor.

"Contesting the 2026 assembly elections and securing victory to bring about the desired political transformation for the people of the state is our objective," he stated. "Following recognition from the Election Commission, post the Lok Sabha election, our journey to present our party ideology, principles, party flag, symbol, and plans for the development of Tamil Nadu will commence."

"In the meeting on January 25, it was determined that our party will abstain from participating in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls or extending support to any other party," Vijay affirmed.

In his comprehensive statement, Vijay highlighted the prevalent administrative disorder and widespread corruption on one side of the political spectrum, coupled with issues of caste and communal politics on the other.

"As far as I am concerned, politics is not a business; it is a service to the people. Drawing lessons from my predecessors, I have been diligently preparing for an extended period. Therefore, for me, politics is not a mere pastime; it is a profound pursuit. I am fully committed to dedicating myself to this cause, viewing it as the most meaningful way to repay my debt of gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu," Vijay expressed.
