According to reports, state-owned SJVN (Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam) Green Energy has successfully secured a 200 MW wind power project valued at Rs 1,400 crore through a tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). As per a BSE filing, SJVN will execute the wind project across any location in India under an engineering procurement construction (EPC) contract.
The bidding process in which SJVN participated was organized by SECI for the selection of wind power developers to establish 1,200 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected wind power projects in Phase-XIV of India. The project won by SJVN is expected to generate wind power at a rate of Rs 3.24 per unit through a reverse auction (e-RA) held on 12 June 2023, following the build-own-operate (BOO) model.
As per the information available, the execution of a Power Sell Agreement (PSA) is contingent upon receiving the letter of intent (LOI) from SECI. The wind power project is projected to produce approximately 578.16 million units (Mus) of energy annually, resulting in a cumulative energy generation of around 14,454 MU over a span of 25 years.
In line with the requirements outlined in the request for solution (RFS), the project is slated to be commissioned within two years from the signing of the PSA. The successful implementation of this project is expected to contribute significantly to the central government's mission to reduce carbon emissions, with an estimated reduction of 7,08,246 tonnes of carbon emissions.
As per industry experts, SJVN's accomplishment in securing this wind power project highlights the company's commitment to expanding renewable energy capacity and aligning with India's sustainable energy goals.
The project's commissioning within two years and its estimated annual energy generation of 578.16 million units will significantly contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions, supporting the country's efforts in combatting climate change.
