Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticised Rahul Gandhi for his claims about the BJP's intentions to amend the Constitution if elected. Modi accused the Congress leader of being hypocritical in his respect for the Constitution, citing the 2013 incident where Rahul Gandhi tore up an ordinance proposed by the Manmohan Singh government to protect convicted lawmakers from instant disqualification.
Speaking at consecutive rallies in various districts of Odisha, Prime Minister Modi remarked, "The 'Shehzada' (Rahul Gandhi) is now dancing around with the Constitution on his forehead... When the decision was taken by Manmohan Singh's Cabinet, the 'Shehzada' held a press conference and ripped apart that ordinance. Those torn pieces weren't just paper, they were parts of the Constitution." Modi also criticised the Congress for their "Gangajal purification" comment following President Murmu's visit to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
Modi also took aim at Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, suggesting that the state government is being influenced by individuals from outside.
Modi accused Naveen Patnaik of outsourcing the Odisha government, asserting that it's being controlled by outsiders. He reiterated his prediction about the end of the Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha, inviting people to attend the inauguration of the state's first BJP chief minister on June 10. "I have already declared June 4 as the expiration date of BJD. I extend an invitation to all of you to join us in Bhubaneswar on June 10 for the swearing-in ceremony of BJP's Chief Minister," Modi declared.
The prime minister mentioned that the BJD government, even though they have been in power in Odisha for the past 25 years, has not been able to improve the state's economic condition.
"In 25 years, one entire generation grows up and starts off their new lives. However, the BJD party has been unsuccessful in uplifting Odisha from poverty over the course of 25 years. There's anger against BJD leaders among people in Odisha," Modi said.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the issue of the lost keys of the Shri Ratna Bhandar at the Shri Jagannath Temple, stating that he had brought this sensitive matter concerning the temple's management to the attention of the nation and Odisha. He emphasised that the keys to the Shri Ratna Bhandar have been missing for the past seven years. Additionally, Modi noted that rules for the management of the Shri Jagannath Temple were established seven decades ago.
Among these regulations was the mandate to maintain records for all temple assets, such as gold, silver, and precious stones. The most recent assessment of the treasure in Shri Ratna Bhandar occurred 45 years ago, uncovering a wealth of jewelry and gems deemed invaluable.
Remarkably, the keys to the inner chamber of Shri Ratna Bhandar have been missing for the past six years. While the state government asserts to have discovered duplicate keys, the circumstances surrounding their creation and the identity of the maker remain undisclosed.
Despite delegating the investigation to a commission, the Odisha government has yet to release the report to the public. The BJP is dedicated to resolving this matter and questions why the BJD government is evading it. "What motivates the state government to conceal the truth? Who are they shielding?" Prime Minister Modi pondered.
"Today, I assure the people of Odisha and the entire nation that under the BJP administration, transparency and the integrity of Shri Ratna Bhandar will be reinstated. This is Modi's guarantee," the PM affirmed.
