New Delhi, April 25, 2026: The Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Study Circle, Hansraj College, University of Delhi, organised a seminar titled “Voices from Across the Borders: 120 Years of Hindu Genocide in Bangladesh” at the Faculty of Arts, North Campus.
The event was graced by distinguished speakers, including Commander V. K. Jaitly (Retd.), noted motivational speaker, leadership coach, and former Indian Navy officer, and Dr K. K. Sharma, former Joint Deputy Director, Intelligence Bureau, and an expert in internal security. The seminar was also attended by Dr Prerna Malhotra, Dean, Centre for Hindu Studies, University of Delhi.
The programme commenced with a formal welcome, followed by a detailed keynote presentation by Dr K. K. Sharma. Through documented material and visual references, he discussed a series of historical incidents cited in the discourse, including the Noakhali riots, the 1964 Hazratbal-related unrest, temple demolitions in the 1990s, incidents such as Nasirnagar (2017) and Cumilla (2021), as well as episodes of mass rape in Bhola in 2001 and accounts of violence in the early 1990s that reportedly led to the destruction of thousands of Hindu temples. The presentation, supported by sensitive visuals of lynched and mutilated bodies of Bangladeshi Hindus and archival references, left a deep impact on the audience and prompted serious reflection.
Commander V. K. Jaitly delivered a compelling and thought-provoking address, emphasising the importance of awareness, leadership, and informed discourse while engaging with complex historical and socio-political issues. His speech resonated strongly with the audience.
Dr Prerna Malhotra shared her academic perspective, highlighting the need for rigorous scholarship, balanced analysis, and continued dialogue on subjects of historical and contemporary significance.
The event was coordinated by Anurag Kumar Shukla, Event Convenor, along with Kumar Laksh, Convenor of the Study Circle, and Nikhil Patidar, Event Co-Convenor, whose collective efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the programme.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the successful completion of the event. It served as a platform for informed discussion, awareness, and academic engagement.
