In a joint operation today, the Indian Army’s Special Forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Police successfully neutralised three terrorists in Kathua district. The operation, which is still ongoing, has so far led to the recovery of two bodies. Key units involved in this mission include the Army’s 1 Para, 22 Garhwal Rifles, and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Voting in Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled to take place in three phases, beginning on September 18. Meanwhile, tensions remain high in the region, as earlier today a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was injured in unprovoked firing by Pakistani forces in the Akhnoor sector.
According to the Border Security Force (BSF), troops are on high alert along the India-Pakistan international border, which spans approximately 3,323 km. This border covers multiple sectors, each facing varying degrees of tension and security challenges.
Sources reveal that security forces, in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, had received intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. Acting on this information, they launched a search operation from multiple directions to apprehend the suspects.
Earlier this week, the Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt in Rajouri district, killing two terrorists. A significant cache of war-like stores was recovered during the operation.
