Security forces in Manipur demolish bunkers, seize large cache of weapons

Security forces in Manipur have escalated their efforts to uphold law and order by conducting extensive search operations and area domination exercises in the state's hill and valley districts. These operations have resulted in substantial recoveries of arms and the demolition of bunkers, highlighting ongoing initiatives to combat illegal activities and bolster security across the region.
In the Khoidum Mamang Leikai area of Kakching District, security personnel conducted a successful operation resulting in the seizure of a cache of weapons and equipment.
The recovered items included one country-made pistol, four 36 MMKI hand grenades without detonators, one Chinese hand grenade, five tube launchers, one carbine with a magazine containing 10 live rounds, eight tear smoke shells, one smoke grenade, and one Baofeng wireless set with batteries and chargers.
Meanwhile, in Old Bijang, Kangpokpi District, security forces dismantled a bunker used by illegal armed groups. This action further disrupted the operations of these groups in the area, demonstrating the authorities' commitment to enhancing security and curbing illicit activities in Manipur.
In subsequent search operations conducted in Old Bijang, Kangpokpi District, security forces made significant recoveries of weapons and equipment. The seized items included one MA 3 Mk II assault rifle with a magazine and sling, as well as one 7.62 mm self-loading rifle (SLR) also equipped with a magazine and sling.
Additionally, they recovered ten live rounds of ammunition, one single-barrel rifle, one improvised pumpi, one ammunition pouch, six jackets in olive green colour, and one pair of jungle shoes.
These operations underscore the ongoing efforts of security personnel to maintain law and order in Manipur, particularly in vulnerable areas like Kangpokpi District. The recoveries are crucial in disrupting the activities of illegal armed groups and enhancing security measures across the region.
