Saudi Arabia has clearly stated that it will not allow its airspace or territory to be used for any military action against Iran. This statement was made by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, according to reports from the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The announcement comes at a time when tensions in the Middle East are increasing due to the buildup of US military forces in the region.
During the phone conversation, the Crown Prince strongly emphasised Saudi Arabia’s position on respecting Iran’s sovereignty. He said that the Kingdom would not permit any attacks or military operations against Iran from its land or airspace. According to the official statement, the Crown Prince said that Saudi Arabia “will not allow its airspace or territory to be used for any military actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran or any attacks from any party whatsoever, regardless of their origin.”
The Crown Prince also expressed Saudi Arabia’s support for peaceful solutions and dialogue to resolve disputes. He stated that the Kingdom supports “any efforts aimed at resolving disputes through dialogue in a way that enhances security and stability in the region.” This reflects Saudi Arabia’s stance on avoiding military conflict and encouraging diplomatic approaches in regional matters.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded positively to Saudi Arabia’s position. He expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s stance and thanked the Crown Prince for his efforts to maintain regional security and stability. Iranian media also reported that Pezeshkian said Iran welcomes any process that prevents war, as long as it is carried out within the framework of international law.
The statement from Saudi Arabia follows a similar position taken earlier by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The UAE had also announced that it would not allow its airspace or territorial waters to be used for any military action against Iran. This shows a broader regional effort to avoid being drawn into potential military conflicts involving Iran.
The situation has become more tense due to recent comments from US President Donald Trump. He had said that a US “armada” was heading toward Iran but expressed hope that it would not need to be used. Later, Trump again mentioned the movement of US forces toward Iran and said, “There is another beautiful armada floating beautifully towards Iran right now.” He also added, “I hope they make a deal.”
Trump’s warnings to Iran were related to issues such as the killing of protesters and the possibility of restarting Iran’s nuclear programme. However, reports indicate that the countrywide demonstrations in Iran have since subsided.
Meanwhile, the US military presence in the region has increased. A US aircraft carrier and supporting warships have arrived in the Middle East, according to reports from US officials. This development has expanded the United States’ capability to defend its forces or potentially take military action in the region.
Overall, Saudi Arabia’s statement highlights its firm position against allowing its territory or airspace to be used for military actions against Iran. The Kingdom’s emphasis on dialogue, sovereignty, and regional stability reflects its intention to avoid escalation and support peaceful solutions amid growing tensions in the Middle East.
