A movie was released on June 29, 2018 – SANJU starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. This is bio-pic of a well-known actor Sanjay Dutt. Not just shedding tears intermittently, the praises showered by some viewers after coming out, we end up feeling that only thing left is to construct a temple for Sanjay Dutt. It is an obvious and a blatant attempt to whitewash a person with Terror link & spent 6 years in prison and make him appear a Saint. The entire movie is about projecting Sanjay a genuine person, a virtuous and noble person and he made no mistakes. Movie was all about making it appear as if an innocent Sanjay cosying in his home being dragged out and made into a criminal. 

The first half of the movie is about him being a drug addict and hold some people responsible for it. Nearly half the movie  is graphic description of the mischiefs done by him when under influence of drugs. All those are blamed on his friend and he is portrayed as a victim and not a culprit. Obviously! It is not a confectionary to be picked up from a roadside departmental store. You have to be in bad company to get substances. All those who get hooked on to intoxicating stuff, start exactly like how Sanjay Dutt started and there is nothing to shed tears about it. How dumb we are to adopt an Addict as our role model! 

There is a particular scene in the movie – A question is posed to Sanjay with his wife alongside – How many women have you slept with apart from your wife? – His reply, “see if I don't count prostitutes, I have slept with 308 girls. I shouldn’t be lying and probably I made a mistake in the numbers. Take the number as 350.” Many in the movie-hall were found giggling at this atrocious reply. Sanjay Dutt went to prison after being proved that he was in possession of dangerous weapons. Even that is justified in the movie – Sanjay Dutt stored assault rifle like AK-56 fearing Hindus groups who had threatened his father Sunil Dutt to stop providing shelter to 1993 blasts affected Muslims. The movie stresses this part repeatedly to subtly indicate that Sanjay Dutt went to prison because of Hindus. 

Why Hindus being targeted by the movie Sanju is explained by the history of the Movie’s Director Rajkumar Hirani, It is the same Rajkumar Hirani who depicted Aamir Khan in Lord Shiva’s role in movie PK, where he is mistaken to be real Shiva and gets chased. Rajkumar Hirani has cleverly disguised the depravity of Sanjay Dutt.

It is not from Hirani who is spinning money writing a script about Sanjay Dutt that we need to learn reality, it should be the then Mumbai Police Commissioner, MN Singh. The stories that are not told & hidden by Hirani is known to him. We should know that the assault rifles AK-56 in possession of innocent Sanjay Dutt for protection of his father (according to the cock and bull version of Hirani) were from Pakistan. You have to trust that though it is not indicated by Hirani, but said by the Commissioner. During interrogation, Sanjay Dutt has confessed to have been in touch with Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Anees Ibrahim over the phone.

Hirani has conveniently skipped this part. How else would he be able to spin the story to blame Hindus for Sanjay Dutt going to prison? Sanjay Dutt was in touch with Dubai-based Anees Ibrahim 7 times and continuously in touch with another terrorist Abu Salem. It is through these contacts that poor innocent Sanjay Dutt got 3 AK-56 assault rifles. Another thing to note is that the plans of the masterminds behind the 1993 Mumbai Blasts were two:

1) Either a powerful bomb blast in some place, or 

2) Use the assault rifles to spray bullets randomly in a crowded place. 

The terrorists had used AK-56 rifles for the same and it is significant to note that even that originated from Pakistan. In some context, Sanjay Dutt developed cold feet and asked them to take away 2 of the 3 rifles. Promptly some terrorists came to him and took it away. After the blast, Sanjay Dutt out of fear summoned the notorious Yousuf to him home and got the rifle destroyed using a gas cutter. 

Yousuf is not some mechanic, and he was involved in the Mumbai blasts. One consignment of guns that Sanjay Dutt got had arrived on Raigad and another in Gujarat. This was personally transported by Abu Salem to Mumbai. Welded container boxes had guns and RDX explosives. In order to open it, they needed an isolated location. It was decided initially to be open the boxes in the office of  Haneef and Sameer owned Magnum productions. Anees Ibrahim had called the duo asking them to provide the place to Abu Salem for this purpose. They refused citing some issues they had with the Landlord of their office premises. Post this, Anees Ibrahim called Sanjay Dutt and got an OK from him to unload the consignments of arms in the garage of his home. The entire movie portrays as if Sunil Dutt was not provided fool proof security. The fact is that after 1992-3 communal riots both Sunil Dutt and Sanjay Dutt were provided with security by the Government.

The garage where they had planned to unload the consignment of arms were within eyesight of the security forces. Sanjay Dutt then advised the Security forces to guard another gate on the day the consignment of arms were scheduled to arrive. The same night, Abu Salem, Haneef and others broke the box open and also gave the rifles to Sanjay Dutt. It is sure that Hirani would not include this. However the commissioner reveals all these. Similarly, CBI makes it public. Hirani may have vested interest to lick boots of Bollywood and Sanjay Dutt, which is not the case with Police or CBI. The entire movie was about how Sunil Dutt sacrificed a lot and put a lot of efforts, and increase sympathy for Sanjay Dutt. 

Think about it! For a scuffle in Shantinagar, Shantinagar MLA Haris stood up defending his son Mohammed Haris and do you think in such a huge issue, wouldn’t Sunil Dutt stand up for his son? Father did everything possible to wash whatever sins the sons committed. On the whole, Hirani had made a movie as if he was part of Sanjay Dutt’s media team.

If you were to sum up, the movie projects – Friends are responsible for Sanjay Dutt’s drug addiction, pretty women are responsible for Sanjay Dutt being a womanizer, Hindu groups are responsible for him being found in possession of dangerous weapons and going to jail, Media is responsible for tarnishing Sanjay Dutt’s name. Sanjay Dutt is a virtuous 24 carat Gold. 

We should be moved to tears for those who shed tears watching the movie glorifying a of all possible vices but not even watch movies like Raazi, The Ghazi Attack, Paramanu that glorified our Nation.
