It was always the last frontier, and 4th May 2026 seemed to be a decisive day in the history of West Bengal politics. As the Jai Shree Ram slogans are thundering across the state amidst the jubilation of the BJP workers across the state, Bengal welcomes a new dawn. The last one and a half decades have witnessed massive unemployment, mass exodus of educated Bengalis, multiple recruitment scams, vote-centric minority appeasement and dole culture leading to economic erosion and lawlessness across the border, leading to national security issues and crises across several key sectors. The popular mandate has definitely given a major boost to the BJP rule, where the party is inching towards the 200 mark. 

The RG Kar movement showed that the fire within the Gen G is slowly shaping up. The Messi fiasco clearly highlighted what's wrong with the state apparatus. Bengal witnessed a historic 90%+ voting in two phases of the Legislative Election. So typical of the BJP, the party went ahead without naming a probable Chief Ministerial candidate. One can only hope that what Amit Shah promised, "The Chief Minister from the BJP will be someone who has studied in Bengali medium". As the supporters all over the state are crying in joy after decades of waiting and suffering, it is definitely a turning point in Bengal Politics. After the fall of the Congress government in the state in the late 70's, Bengal witnessed the brainwashing of Communist rule, which pushed the state. The GDP of the state nosedived, and it took more than three decades for the bhodrolok Bengalis to remove the Communists. But Bengal's nightmare didn't end. It took another 15 years to change for the ultimate - the much-anticipated saffron parade. What late Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee imagined, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made possible with his Midas touch. 

Credit goes to Suvendu Adhikari, the mercurial leader who came from TMC to prove his mettle. As per the latest update, he is locking horns with the sitting Chief Minister. It has been teamwork that has been pivotal in this historic win. The contributions of the RSS cannot be ignored, as it had the game plan ready to fight the fiercest battle. The AITC government relied mostly on the dole-based schemes. Every propaganda has its expiry date, and the citizens rose against the strategies to woo them. There have been innumerable such TMC strongholds, like Bidhannagar, Shyampukur, Baranagar, Maniktala, Tollygunge, Panihati, Jorasankor, Domkal, and many more, in and around Kolkata, where the BJP has made huge inroads with a popular mandate. The TMC has been literally wiped out from North Bengal, where people have literally blessed the BJP with huge margins.

The Left and the Congress don't have anything to cheer either. In most of the seats, they have been the third or the fourth choice. There is no denying the fact that the Election Commission of India ensured a free and transparent election where not a single person was killed during the two phases of the high-voltage Bengal Legislative Election. 

BJP has many promises to keep. Right from ensuring women's security to paying DA to the government employees and also safeguarding the river borders with Bangladesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a lot on his plate. As 'Anga - Vanga - Kalinga' has been achieved, India's ‘Look East’ policy can finally take shape. Syama Prasad Mookerjee dreamt of a shining Bengal more than seventy years back. It is time to give a perfect tribute to the great son of Bharatmata. After all, 'What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow'.
