Russia's Defence Ministry reported a successful test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile at the Kapustin Yar rocket launch complex in the southern Astrakhan region.
The Russian state-owned news agency quoted the defence ministry as stating that on April 12, 2024, a combat crew of the Strategic Missile Forces successfully launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from the 4th State Central Interspecific Range Kapustin Yar in the Astrakhan Region.
The report stated that the launch constituted a part of state testing for promising missile systems. Additionally, it aimed to confirm the stability of the missiles currently in service with the Russian army.
The ministry emphasised that all tasks were fully completed, with the results indicating the high reliability of domestic missiles, thereby ensuring the country's strategic security.
Senior US officials have disclosed that China is assisting Russia's war effort in Ukraine. According to these officials, Beijing is aiding Moscow in its most extensive military expansion since the Soviet era by supplying drone and missile technology, satellite imagery, and machine tools.
According to the news agency Reuters, US President Joe Biden addressed the matter with Chinese President Xi Jinping during their recent phone conversation. The officials reported that the issue is also being discussed with US allies in Europe and globally.
Speaking anonymously, officials revealed that Chinese materials are filling crucial gaps in Russia's defence production cycle, facilitating Moscow's significant military expansion, which surpasses expectations.
They stated that persuading China to cease its assistance to Russia's military-industrial base is seen as a pivotal move to support Ukraine. The officials emphasised that Russia's ability to sustain its war efforts would be severely hampered without Chinese support.
