The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has dissolved all its organisational units across Bihar following a major setback in the recently concluded Bankipur bypoll. The decision covers party committees at the district, block and panchayat levels. It also includes various cells and other affiliated organisational bodies of the party. The move comes at a time when the RJD is looking to strengthen its organisation ahead of future electoral contests in the state.

RJD Bihar state president Mangani Lal Mandal issued an official statement on the decision late on Thursday evening. The statement announced the immediate dissolution of all organisational units of the party across Bihar. The move will affect the party structure at every level and is expected to pave the way for a fresh organisational setup.

"All organisational units of the RJD (Bihar) at every level - including organisational units at the district level, block level and panchayat level, as well as organisational units associated with all cells and other affiliated organisational bodies - stand dissolved with immediate effect," the statement said.

The party has also announced that the process of forming new organisational committees will begin at the earliest. The new committees will be constituted across all levels in the state. This includes district, block and panchayat units, along with the party's different cells and affiliated bodies.

The decision assumes importance in the wake of the RJD's performance in the Bankipur bypoll. The party's candidate, Rekha Gupta, was unable to retain her deposit in the election. The result has added to concerns about the party's organisational strength and its performance at the grassroots level.

The Bankipur setback also triggered a public exchange between two RJD leaders. Party leaders Bhai Virendra and Shakti Singh Yadav engaged in a war of words following the election result. Both leaders blamed each other for the weakening of the party organisation. Their public disagreement highlighted the internal concerns within the party after the electoral setback.

The dissolution of the existing organisational structure now gives the RJD an opportunity to rebuild its teams across Bihar. The party is expected to appoint new office-bearers and workers at different levels as part of the reorganisation process. The focus will be on creating a new structure that can work more effectively at the local and grassroots levels.

RJD MLA Bhai Virendra defended the decision while speaking to reporters on Friday. He said the step had been taken to strengthen the party’s organisational network.

He said, henceforth, the party would give responsibilities only to workers who were dedicated and capable. The remark comes amid the recent differences between party leaders over the reasons behind the Bankipur defeat. The selection of new workers and office-bearers is likely to be an important part of the party's efforts to rebuild its organisation.

Bhai Virendra also expressed confidence about the RJD's political prospects in Bihar. He claimed that an RJD government would be formed in the state in the coming days. His statement signals that the party remains focused on strengthening its political position despite the recent electoral setback.

The dissolution of the committees is therefore being viewed as a significant organisational step by the RJD. Instead of continuing with the existing structure, the party has decided to start the process of rebuilding its units from the ground up.
