Ranveer Allahbadia has been in the spotlight due to his remarks on Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent. He faced severe criticism for a comment he made to a contestant about "sex with parents," leading to multiple FIRs being filed against him, Apoorva Makhija, and Samay Raina for the show.
While Ranveer apologised, he continued to receive death threats. The latest update reveals that the Supreme Court has granted Ranveer interim protection.
A hearing was held today, and the court has granted Ranveer protection, instructing him to cooperate with the investigation into the multiple FIRs. The court has temporarily halted his arrest against the FIRs, but he is not permitted to participate in any shows at this time.
Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh gave the order, which stated, "The Court has granted interim protection to the YouTuber while directing him to cooperate with the investigation in multiple FIRs. However, he has been restrained from hosting any new shows for now."
The Supreme Court also reprimanded Ranveer for his inappropriate language, describing it as perverse. The court remarked that his sisters would be ashamed to see the clip and that he had embarrassed his parents. The SC told Ranveer that if such language is not considered obscene, then what is? The court further criticised him for showing a complete lack of responsibility.
As per ANI, "Supreme Court also issued notices on his plea seeking clubbing of FIRs and put an interim stay on arrest on FIRs registered in Maharashtra, Assam and Jaipur subject to his joining investigation. Supreme Court also directed Allahbadia and his associates to be off from show business for some time."
As per PTI’s reporting, Abha Singh, Bombay High Court lawyer, expresses, "I am glad that Supreme Court has come out strongly against the comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia. SC has rightly said that his comments have made mothers, daughters and children ashamed. SC has, of course, given him interim protection but has directed the comedian to cooperate with the investigation.”
He has also been allowed to seek protection from the local police in Maharashtra and Assam due to the death threats he is receiving.
