During Gogamedi's retaliation, one of his security guards sustained bullet wounds. In the crossfire, one of the three attackers was killed. He was gunned down by his accomplices though police initially said the attacker died from the firing by Gogamedi's security guards.

"Brothers, today Sukhdev Gogamedi was murdered. We take full responsibility for this. We have got this murder done. I want to tell you that he (Gogamedi) used to help our enemies, thus strengthening them. As far as our enemies are concerned, they should keep their bier ready at the doorstep of their house. We will soon meet them too." Rohit Godara said in his post.
According to reports, Shri Rajput Karni Sena's National President Mahipal Singh Makrana has demanded to encounter the killers of Sukhdev. Makrana reportedly said that until Gogamedi's killers are brought to justice, Gogamedi's body will not be cremated nor will the swearing-in ceremony of the new government be allowed to take place.
