The Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested three individuals identified as Jobanjit Singh alias Joban, Bikramjit Singh alias Bikka, and Kulwinder Singh alias Kala. These individuals are associates of foreign-based terrorists Lakhbir Singh Landa and Harvinder Rinda.
According to police statements, the arrested individuals were actively engaged in criminal activities under the instructions of their overseas handlers.
The Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav took to social media to announce a significant breakthrough, stating, "In a major breakthrough, #AGTF Punjab has arrested 3 associates (Jobanjit Singh @ Joban, Bikramjit Singh @ Bikka & Kulwinder Singh @ Kala) of terrorists #Canada-based Lakbir Landa & #Pak-based Harwinder Rinda."
The State's top cop wrote on X, “that Joban, who has been wanted for offenses under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Arms Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and Information Technology (IT Act), had been evading authorities for an extended period. Both Joban and Bikka are also wanted in multiple cases under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code."
He added, "Recovery from the arrests included 2 pistols and 10 live cartridges. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused were executing criminal activities under the directives of their foreign handlers."
Earlier on February 4, three operatives backed by foreign-based Gangster Goldy Brar were swiftly apprehended by the AGTF Punjab in a joint operation with Chandigarh Police and Central Agencies. These individuals were involved in a shooting incident at a residential area in Chandigarh on January 19, 2024.
According to reports, the accused fled to Bihar following the commission of the crime. They were subsequently tracked while en route from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh and apprehended at Gorakhpur Railway Station with the assistance of Gorakhpur Police.
AGTF Punjab made a breakthrough by arresting two operatives, Mandeep Singh and Jatinder Singh, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar Gang. Mandeep had allegedly provided hideouts to individuals involved in the murder of Sidhu Moosewala and facilitated the escape of Gangster Deepak Tinu in 2017.
Both individuals have a criminal history, with several cases of Attempt to Murder, Extortion, Robbery, and Arms Act violations registered against them in Chandigarh and Haryana. Furthermore, a recovery of two pistols and 12 live cartridges was reported during the operation.
As per preliminary investigation findings, the arrested accused were assigned the responsibility of conducting targeted killings of rival gangsters by their handlers based abroad.
