President Murmu launches Gujarat Legislative Assembly's NeVA Digital House Project

President of India, Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the 'National e-Vidhan Application' (NeVA) and addressed the Gujarat Legislative Assembly in Gandhinagar.
During her address, the President lauded the Gujarat Legislative Assembly's historical commitment to societal welfare since the state's formation in 1960. She highlighted the transformative potential of the E-Assembly initiative, through the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), to digitize the legislative process and enable members to adopt best practices from the national parliament and other assemblies.
President Murmu expressed confidence in the initiative's ability to enhance efficiency and transparency while transitioning the Assembly to a paperless environment, thereby contributing to environmental preservation.
Acknowledging Gujarat's prominence in various sectors, President Murmu noted its status as a manufacturing hub, the leading milk-producing state, and a major player in the startup ecosystem. Additionally, she commended the state's achievements in rooftop solar power generation and wind energy production.
President Murmu emphasized the crucial role of human resources in a state's economic development, underscoring the importance of providing essential amenities like healthcare, quality education, electricity, and water.
She commended the Gujarat government for its efforts in improving girl child education, teacher-student ratios, enrollment, and retention rates. The President also praised the state's three-tier health system, which reduced maternal and infant mortality rates, as well as its initiatives in electricity reform, water harvesting, and animal welfare.
Addressing gender representation in politics, President Murmu called for increased women's participation, stating that women's success in various fields, including science, technology, defense, and sports, should be reflected in politics. She stressed that when provided with opportunities, women can significantly contribute to nation-building and the country's overall development.
Regarding the Global Biofuels Alliance formation during the G20 Summit, the President applauded India's leadership in promoting environmental protection and energy self-reliance, seeing it as a promising opportunity for Gujarat, a state known for its innovative and non-traditional energy sources.
President Murmu highlighted the importance of technology in enhancing people's lives and expressed hope that the E-Vidhan platform would facilitate better connectivity between MLAs and the public. She urged legislators to maintain parliamentary decorum while setting new standards for discussing public welfare, recognizing their role in making Gujarat more prosperous and contributing to India's development as a fully developed nation by 2047.
