President Droupadi Murmu visited the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on Thursday, where she took part in special religious ceremonies and installed a 150-kg gold-plated metal plate known as the ‘Shri Ram Yantra’. The visit marked an important spiritual occasion, with several prominent leaders and religious figures present during the rituals.
"President Droupadi Murmu offered prayers at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in the sacred Ayodhya Dham," was posted on the official X handle of the President of India. The post highlighted her participation in the religious proceedings and her visit to the temple complex, which holds deep significance for millions of devotees across the country.
"On this occasion, she installed the 'Shri Ram Yantra' in the divine temple, in the presence of the Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Mata Amritanandamayi, and other dignitaries. She offered prayers and performed the aarti at the Ramlala Temple, praying to Lord Ramlala for the happiness and prosperity of all," the post added. The ceremony was attended by Anandiben Patel, Yogi Adityanath, spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi, along with other dignitaries.
According to the official update, the President was received upon her arrival in Ayodhya by Patel, Adityanath, and Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak. The reception reflected the importance of the visit and the coordination between state authorities and temple officials.
Temple trust member Anil Mishra explained that the ‘Shri Ram Yantra’ is a specially designed metal plate rooted in Vedic mathematics. He said it is believed to generate positive spiritual energy and represents the divine presence of Lord Ram within the temple. The square-shaped plate weighs 150 kilograms and is gold-plated. It carries engraved Vedic mantras and ‘beej’ mantras, which are considered sacred in Hindu traditions.
Mishra further stated that the design of the Yantra is inspired by the Shri Ram Yantra of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. The plate was crafted under the guidance of Swami Vijayendra Saraswati. Its preparation involved careful adherence to religious and mathematical principles that hold significance in temple architecture and rituals.
He also shared that the Yantra had been brought to Ayodhya in a ceremonial procession from Tirupati Devasthanam nearly two years ago. Since then, it has been worshipped daily as part of ongoing rituals. The installation on Thursday was planned to coincide with an auspicious time known as ‘abhijit muhurat’. This timing is considered highly favourable in Hindu traditions for performing sacred ceremonies.
The installation is part of a broader set of rituals linked to Chaitra Navratri and the Hindu New Year. These occasions hold special importance in the religious calendar and attract large numbers of devotees. The Yantra is set to be placed on the second floor of the temple, adding to the spiritual and symbolic aspects of the structure.
Alongside the religious ceremonies, extensive security arrangements were made across Ayodhya for the President’s visit. Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover stated that more than 7,000 security personnel were deployed throughout the temple complex and the city. Additional forces were stationed at sensitive locations to ensure safety and maintain order during the high-profile visit.
Authorities also implemented traffic restrictions in several parts of the city. Residents and devotees were advised to cooperate with the administration and avoid restricted zones to prevent inconvenience. The measures were aimed at ensuring smooth movement and maintaining security during the President’s presence in the city.
The visit by President Murmu combined religious devotion with administrative coordination, highlighting the significance of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The installation of the ‘Shri Ram Yantra’ added a new spiritual element to the temple, while the presence of key leaders and tight security arrangements underlined the importance of the occasion.
