Prime Minister Narendra Modi, responding to the Motion of Thanks on the President's address on July 2nd, remarked that despite spreading misinformation, the INDIA bloc lost in the Lok Sabha elections. Earlier in the day, PM Modi, along with Amit Shah and other senior BJP leaders, attended a crucial NDA meeting in Parliament. During the meeting, PM Modi emphasised the importance for NDA MPs to prioritise serving the nation's people.
Rahul Gandhi's controversial speech on the Motion of Thanks for the President's address sparked significant protests from the ruling benches. PM Modi intervened twice during Gandhi's hour and 40-minute speech, while at least five cabinet ministers also interjected, with Home Minister Amit Shah calling for an apology from the Congress leader.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the opposition in Parliament, accusing them of insulting Hindu deities. He expressed strong disapproval of the events that unfolded in the Lok Sabha, particularly in response to remarks made by Rahul Gandhi regarding "Hindu violence." Modi emphasised that such actions would not be forgotten by the nation, indicating his displeasure over the remarks made during the parliamentary session.
PM Modi emphasised that those responsible for the paper leak would face consequences, affirming the government's seriousness about the issue. In his response to the debate, the Prime Minister highlighted that legislation has been enacted to tackle paper leaks, and measures are being implemented to fortify the education system.
PM Modi expressed his condolences for the tragic stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, acknowledging the loss of lives and extending wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured. He assured that the administration, under the supervision of the state government, is actively engaged in relief and rescue operations. Highlighting the coordination between the central and Uttar Pradesh governments, he promised comprehensive assistance to the victims and their families.
Addressing the Lok Sabha, he underscored that the BJP-led government had abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that this move had brought about positive changes. He highlighted that since the abrogation of Article 370, incidents of stone-pelting had ceased, contrasting it with the period when such unrest was prevalent. PM Modi emphasised that the removal of Article 370 had fostered greater trust in India's flag and Constitution across the entire region. His remarks came amidst vocal opposition in the House.
The PM also criticised the Congress party during his speech in the Lok Sabha, attributing the nation's current challenges partly to what he described as the Congress' divisive politics. He accused the Congress of promoting anarchy despite having governed India for six decades. PM Modi highlighted their alleged attempts to sow discord by criticising people from different regions of India based on language. He also criticised the Congress for fielding leaders who had previously advocated for the division of the country.
Moreover, PM Modi criticised the Congress party's historical governance under Jawaharlal Nehru, alleging that during that era, the Indian Army was weakened. He referenced scandals such as the "jeep ghotala" (jeep scam) and the "bofors ghotala" (Bofors scandal), asserting that these corruption cases undermined the strength of the Indian Army. The remarks underscored Modi's view that the Congress' governance in the past had a detrimental impact on national security and military preparedness.
He strongly condemned the opposition's conduct in Parliament, alleging that lies were propagated about schemes like Agniveer and Minimum Support Price (MSP). He specifically targeted Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that such actions were contributing to an atmosphere of anarchy and trouble for the nation. Modi expressed concern that the events from the previous day should not be dismissed lightly, implying a deeper conspiracy behind them. He urged the Speaker to address the issue seriously to maintain the dignity and integrity of Parliament.
Additionally, the PM also pilloried Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, likening his assertion of a "moral victory" in the Lok Sabha elections to a child who, after a minor setback, is consoled by an elder with a distraction. Modi portrayed the situation as akin to a scenario where a child falls off his bicycle and starts crying, and an elder reassures him by diverting his attention, suggesting that similar actions were being taken currently.
He drew parallels between the recent Lok Sabha elections and previous electoral outcomes, particularly highlighting the Congress party's performance. He likened Congress's claim of a "moral victory" with a child boasting about scoring 99 marks, only to be corrected that it was out of a much larger total. Modi emphasised that despite Congress's increase in seat numbers to 99, they had not achieved a significant milestone compared to their historical performances. He used this analogy to underscore what he perceived as a lack of real achievement or progress for the Congress party. Congress party has failed to cross 100 seats for three consecutive times, which he emphasised as unprecedented in their history. He criticised the Congress for not accepting their defeat gracefully and accused them of being arrogant by attempting to build a narrative that they had defeated the BJP.
PM Modi accused the Congress party of working to create economic anarchy in India. He criticised Congress for what he perceived as economic policies that burden their states and undermine national economic stability.
He also lashed out at the allies of the Congress party, suggesting that they should analyse the electoral results which he interpreted as a message for them. He referred to Congress as a "parasite party" from 2024 onwards and urged them to refrain from celebrating what he termed as a fake victory. The mandate given by the people was for stability and continuity. He highlighted the NDA's unprecedented success in the recent state elections as evidence of this support. PM added.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha he stated that voters have mandated the Congress to sit in opposition and accused them of resorting to shouting when they have nothing substantial to say. He also took a swipe at the opposition, alleging that they did not implement the Constitution properly in Jammu and Kashmir and insulted Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. PM Modi further highlighted the contrast before and after 2014, asserting that prior to his government's tenure, terrorists could strike anywhere without repercussions, whereas now India conducts surgical strikes in response.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Lok Sabha, highlighted the achievements of his government and asserted that the nation is now filled with confidence under its leadership. He reiterated his commitment to the development of India, stating that his government has resolved to build a developed India and will dedicate every moment with honesty and dedication towards fulfilling this resolution.
