Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a comprehensive phone conversation yesterday. The leaders discussed regional security, terrorism, bilateral cooperation, and ways to further strengthen the India–Israel Strategic Partnership. During the call, India reaffirmed its support for the early implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan and reiterated its commitment to combating terrorism.

Prime Minister Modi said, “Spoke with my friend Prime Minister Netanyahu. We reviewed progress in the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and agreed to further strengthen our cooperation.” He also highlighted India’s firm stance against terrorism, stating that both countries shared a “commitment to zero tolerance for terrorism.”

The official statement from the Indian government said that Modi “reaffirmed India’s support for efforts aimed at securing a just and durable peace in the region, including early implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.” Both leaders strongly condemned terrorism “in all its forms and manifestations” and underlined the importance of international cooperation to maintain security and stability in the region.

The phone call comes months after Prime Minister Modi welcomed former U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of his 20-point Gaza Peace Plan. Modi described the development as a “reflection of the strong leadership of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,” and noted that the initial breakthrough offered a hopeful opening for further progress toward stability in the region.

Trump’s 20-point proposal laid out not only an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas but also a detailed blueprint for Gaza’s administration after hostilities end. The plan called for the creation of an interim governing council to be chaired by Trump and include prominent global figures such as former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. The framework ensured that Gaza residents would not be displaced and stated that fighting would stop immediately if both Israel and Hamas agreed to the terms.

The call took place amid ongoing tensions in Gaza and the broader West Asian region. India used the conversation to communicate its support for diplomatic and peaceful solutions to conflicts in the area. Netanyahu acknowledged India’s consistent support for Israel and stressed the importance of maintaining close cooperation in security, intelligence sharing, and regional stability.

During the discussion, both leaders reviewed the progress of the India–Israel Strategic Partnership, which has grown stronger over the past decades in areas such as defence, trade, science, technology, and agriculture. They agreed to explore further opportunities to deepen cooperation, particularly in technology, innovation, and infrastructure projects.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office stated that the leaders agreed “to meet very soon” to continue reviewing the strategic partnership and identify new areas of collaboration. The conversation reinforced the long-standing trust between the two nations and highlighted shared interests in promoting peace, security, and development in the region.
