PM Modi meets US Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, discusses India-US friendship

After arriving in Washington, D.C., on Thursday morning (IST), Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Tulsi Gabbard, the newly appointed Director of National Intelligence. This meeting was among the first in his busy U.S. schedule, including talks with President Donald Trump.
Sharing a glimpse of his discussion with Gabbard, Modi stated that they spoke about the India-U.S. friendship and congratulated her on her new role in Trump's administration as Director of National Intelligence.
In his post on X, Modi penned, “Met USA’s Director of National Intelligence, @TulsiGabbard in Washington DC. Congratulated her on her confirmation. Discussed various aspects of the India-USA friendship, of which she’s always been a strong votary.”
Modi is on a two-day US visit program and the moment he landed in the US, the Indian diaspora welcomed him. The PM expressed his utmost gratitude to them in his post.
He penned on X, “A warm reception in the winter chill! Despite the cold weather, the Indian diaspora in Washington DC has welcomed me with a very special welcome. My gratitude to them,” he wrote on X.
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to meet President Donald Trump for a bilateral discussion during his visit to the United States. This will mark their first official meeting since Trump began his second term as the U.S. President.
Modi conveyed his eagerness to meet Trump, stating that he was “looking forward” to their discussion and talk over India-US ties. On X, he posted, “Landed in Washington DC a short while ago. Looking forward to meeting @POTUS Donald Trump and building upon the India-USA Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Our nations will keep working closely for the benefit of our people and for a better future for our planet. @realDonaldTrump.”
Modi will be among the first world leaders to meet Trump following his inauguration as the 47th U.S. President on January 20. According to a PTI report, the visit is expected to cover a broad range of bilateral issues, and experts believe that some sensitive topics may also come up during the discussions.
