Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, 25 September, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of central and state government projects worth more than Rs 1,22,100 crore in Banswara.
A key highlight was the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project, valued at Rs 42,000 crore.
Being developed by Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Ltd (ASHVINI), the project will include four indigenous 700 MW pressurised heavy water reactors designed by NPCIL under the government’s fleet mode programme.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated green energy initiatives worth Rs 19,210 crore, which include solar plants in Phalodi, Jaisalmer, Jalore, and Sikar, along with the foundation stone of a solar park in Bikaner.
He further unveiled three power transmission schemes worth Rs 13,180 crore under the Renewable Energy Zone initiative, which will allow 15.5 GW of renewable power to be transmitted from Rajasthan to demand centres across India.
Under the PM-KUSUM scheme, feeder-level solarisation projects of 3,517 MW, worth Rs 16,050 crore, were launched across Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated a 220 KV substation in Barmer and laid foundation stones for three additional substations valued at over Rs 490 crore.
Water resource projects worth Rs 20,830 crore were launched, including the Isarda Dam, Dholpur Lift Project, and Mor Sagar reservoir in Ajmer.
In addition, drinking water schemes worth Rs 5,880 crore across districts such as Banswara, Dungarpur, Udaipur, and Ajmer were unveiled under AMRUT 2.0.
Road infrastructure projects valued at Rs 2,630 crore were also inaugurated, covering flyovers, a bridge on the Banas River, and 116 Atal Pragati Path works.
The Prime Minister flagged off three trains—Bikaner–Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat, Jodhpur–Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat, and Udaipur City–Chandigarh Express.
He inaugurated a 250-bed hospital in Bharatpur, an IT and e-governance centre in Jaipur and sewerage projects in Makrana and Jhunjhunu.
Modi also distributed more than 15,000 appointment letters for positions including junior assistants, engineers, teachers, and animal attendants, highlighting the government’s focus on infrastructure and employment.
During the event, Prime Minister Modi criticised the Congress for decades of neglect in Rajasthan.
"Our government is healing the wounds inflicted by the corruption of Congress. Rajasthan had turned into a hub of paper leaks during the Congress regime. Jal Jeevan mission was also compromised due to corruption. Crime against women was maximum. Rapists were given protection. Crime and the illegal liquor trade flourished in areas such as Banswara, Dungarpur, and Pratapgarh. But once the BJP was entrusted with the task, we tightened the law and order. New schemes are coming out," ANI reported him as saying.
