Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign for girls aged 14 during his visit to Ajmer in Rajasthan. The vaccination drive aims to prevent cervical cancer, which is one of the leading causes of cancer-related illness among women in the country. The programme marks an important step in preventive healthcare and focuses on protecting young girls at an early age. By starting this campaign at the national level, the government hopes to reduce future cases of cervical cancer and improve women’s health across India.

Along with the launch of the health initiative, the Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth more than Rs 16,680 crore. These projects cover many important sectors such as urban development, drinking water supply, roads, irrigation, energy, and industrial infrastructure. The large investment shows the government’s focus on improving basic facilities and strengthening infrastructure in Rajasthan.

In the road and transport sector, several national highway projects were inaugurated. These include the four-lane greenfield expressway between Bandikui and Jaipur, which is expected to improve travel and reduce traffic congestion in the region. The Prime Minister also inaugurated sections of the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor, a major project aimed at improving connectivity between northern and western India. Parts of the Delhi-Vadodara Expressway were also opened. This access-controlled expressway will help in the faster movement of goods and passengers, making transport more efficient. In addition, he laid the foundation stone for an elevated road in Jodhpur and announced upgrades to several state highways in Rajasthan. These projects are expected to boost connectivity, support trade, and make daily travel easier for people.

In the water sector, foundation stones were laid for different packages under the Nonera Major Drinking Water Project and the Parwan Akawad Major Drinking Water Project. These projects aim to improve access to safe and clean drinking water in different parts of the state. By strengthening water supply systems, the government hopes to solve water shortage issues and improve the quality of life for residents. Clean drinking water is an essential need, and these projects are expected to benefit many households.

The Prime Minister also focused on strengthening the power sector. Transmission systems linked to renewable energy zones were inaugurated or announced. Several grid substations were also part of the projects launched during the visit. These steps are meant to improve power supply and support the growth of renewable energy in the region. Stronger power infrastructure will help industries, businesses, and households by ensuring a stable electricity supply.

Apart from infrastructure and health projects, the Prime Minister also took steps to promote employment. During the event, he distributed more than 21,800 appointment letters to newly recruited youth in various government departments and organisations in Rajasthan. This move is part of the government’s effort to create job opportunities and support young people in building their careers. The distribution of appointment letters was seen as an important step in boosting employment and encouraging youth participation in public service.

After launching the HPV vaccination campaign and unveiling the projects, Prime Minister Modi addressed a public gathering in Ajmer. His visit combined health, infrastructure, water supply, energy, and employment initiatives, showing a broad focus on development. The launch of the vaccination drive, along with projects worth over Rs 16,680 crore, highlights the government’s aim to improve healthcare services and strengthen infrastructure across Rajasthan while also supporting job creation and long-term growth.
