Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a series of development and infrastructure projects worth ₹10,000 crore in Haryana. Among them was the foundation stone for the third 800 MW thermal unit at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant in Yamunanagar, with an investment of ₹8,469 crore. He also laid the foundation for a ₹90 crore GOBARdhan plant in Yamunanagar and inaugurated the Rewari Bypass, which has been constructed at a cost of ₹1,069 crore.
Several key leaders attended the event, including Union Minister for Housing Manohar Lal, Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal, and Haryana Cabinet Ministers Anil Vij, Krishan Lal Panwar, and Shyam Singh Rana.
Additionally, the Union Ministry of Power has approved the setting up the third 800 MW unit at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Yamunanagar thermal plant by the Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (HPGCL).
The project involves expanding the current power plant, which already runs two 300 MW units. An additional 233 acres have been allocated to construct a new unit. The project is expected to be finished in 52 months, with commercial operations likely to begin within 48 months by March 2029. Once the new unit is operational, Haryana’s internal power generation capacity will rise to 3,382 MW.
Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the Rewari bypass, developed under the Bharatmala scheme using the Hybrid Annuity Model, at a cost of ₹1,069 crore. This four-lane bypass was built around Rewari city to help reduce traffic congestion. Spanning 14.4 kilometres, the bypass starts at the NH-352 junction and links to NH-11 toward Narnaul. This development is expected to significantly ease traffic issues in Rewari and improve connectivity to Narnaul. The bypass will allow for smoother, faster movement of both people and goods. Together with ring roads and other infrastructure upgrades, it will enhance the efficiency of current and future routes, leading to better traffic flow and shorter travel times.
One of the key advantages of the Rewari bypass is that it will cut travel time between Delhi and Narnaul by almost an hour. This will make travel easier for people and speed up the movement of goods.
Meanwhile, the foundation stone was laid for a GOBARdhan plant that will be built in Mukarampur, Yamunanagar. The project, worth ₹90 crore, is a joint effort between the Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation and BPCL.
Once completed, expected by May 2027, the plant will be able to produce 2,600 metric tonnes of compressed biogas (CBG) annually. It will generate the gas using materials like agricultural waste, cattle dung, and municipal solid waste. Each year, it will process around 45,000 metric tonnes of solid waste and 36,000 metric tonnes of cattle dung in an eco-friendly way. CBG, a refined version of biogas, can replace CNG. The plant’s annual output will offer the same energy benefits as CNG, producing about 10,000 metric tonnes of bio-fertiliser every year.
The project aims to cut CO₂ emissions by 7,700 metric tonnes each year. It will also end the practice of open waste dumping and reduce methane emissions from landfill fires, contributing to better air quality. Prime Minister Modi, committed to making air travel safe, affordable, and accessible, laid the foundation stone for the new terminal building at Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar, which costs over Rs 410 crore. The Prime Minister also emphasised the launch of flights connecting Haryana to Ayodhya Dham, marking a direct connection between the sacred land of Shri Krishna and Lord Ram's city. He announced that more flights to other cities would begin from Hisar airport soon. He described the new terminal as a significant step forward for Haryana’s growth and congratulated the state's people on this important achievement.
