PM Modi inaugurates ‘NAMO Medical Education and Research Institute’ in Silvassa

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the NAMO Medical Education & Research Institute at Silvassa town in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
After inaugurating the first medical college on the island, PM Modi visited the campus, which spread over 14 acres, earlier he interacted with the workers there, who were involved in the construction of the project. PM Modi was accompanied by Praful Patel, the administrator of the Union Territory.
PM Narendra Modi reached Silvassa, the capital of Dadra and Nagar Haveli district, from Kerala earlier in the day.
The medical college has been developed under the Ministry of Health and spread over a sprawling, lush green campus of 14.48 acres built at a cost of ₹203 crore, for which the foundation stone was laid in January 2019.
The medical college complex houses a 24x7 multi-storey library, an academic block with four lecture halls and an auditorium, a club house, residential accommodation for faculty, and hostels for students besides outdoor and indoor sports facilities. It has an annual intake capacity of 177 medical students.
According to the college's website, the hospital has a blood bank, intensive care units, a modular operating room, and 24-hour emergency and pharmacy services for both indoor and outdoor patients. The facility is anticipated to make healthcare services more accessible to Union Territory residents thanks to its first-rate features and cutting-edge conveniences.
Narendra Modi is slated to address a gathering at Sayli village near Silvassa later and inaugurate or lay the foundation stones for various projects across the Union Territory.
