PM Modi inaugurates and initiates development projects worth over Rs 36,400 Crore in West Bengal and Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed development projects worth Rs 21,400 crore in Bihar's Aurangabad district during an official function held in Ratanwa village. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Governor Rajendra V Arlekar, Deputy Chief Ministers Samat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with several Union ministers, attended the programme.
Modi's visit to Bihar marks his first since the BJP-led NDA coalition regained power in the state following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's departure from the Mahagathbandhan alliance. Kumar, who leads the JD(U), now heads the state government in alliance with the BJP.
While addressing the event, Chief Minister Kumar assured Prime Minister Modi of his enduring commitment to the NDA alliance.
Prime Minister Modi announced the inauguration of national highway projects totaling over Rs 18,000 crore. Additionally, he initiated the construction of a six-lane bridge over the Ganga, set to run parallel to the existing JP Ganga Setu.
Prime Minister Modi further marked the inauguration of 12 projects, valued at over 2,190 crore, as part of the Namami Gange scheme. These projects encompass sewerage treatment plants situated in Patna, Sonepur, Naugachia, and Chapra.
Additionally, he initiated the groundwork for the construction of Unity Mall in Patna, a venture projected to cost over Rs 200 crore. This development is expected to significantly contribute to the 'One District, One Product' initiative.
Earlier, following his visit to Bihar where he inaugurated a slew of development projects, PM Modi West Bengal unveiled projects worth Rs 15,000 crore.
He reiterated the government's commitment to transforming Bengal into a "viksit state" or a developed state. Stressing Bengal's pivotal role as a "development gateway," the Prime Minister underscored the importance of infrastructure development in propelling economic growth and fostering prosperity in the region.
PM Modi highlighted West Bengal's potential as a "progress gateway" for both the nation and neighbouring states. He emphasized the substantial opportunities available in the state, poised for significant growth.
Continuing his efforts to foster development in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated projects totaling Rs 15,000 crore. These projects, including infrastructure enhancements in power, roads, and railway connectivity, aim to improve the lives of citizens, stimulate economic growth, and create employment opportunities.
To facilitate modern-day development, the PM said, "Power is essential for growth, industry, railways, or people's lives." "Without power, no state can progress. I want West Bengal to become self-reliant. Raghunath Thermal Power Phase II is in this direction. Around Rs 11,000 crore plus investments will come, and economic development in the area will grow," the PM stated.
"I have inaugurated NH12 where Rs 2000 crore has been invested," Modi said. "Connectivity will be fast, Kolkata to Raiganj, and travelling time will be reduced. Kaliachak, Sujapur, Malda- the connectivity to these towns will improve in a major way, and transportation time will be reduced. Economic and industrial activity will grow around it."
"In a government programme, Modi emphasized the historical achievements of Bengal, which have regressed over time," stated the PM. "To bridge this gap, significant emphasis has been placed on railway infrastructure and other developments over the past decade. Railways is now spending double the amount in the state, and Modi inaugurated four railway projects during the event."
